Looks like a great training aid (for me). From my lessons my teacher constantly corrects me bringing the club too far inside during backswing, and I also have a habit of flipping at impact, which it seems that this device is designed to help.

Tried some of the basic drills in the 7-day protocols without device and it definitely helped me gain some awareness of club position.

I have been seriously considering this for winter training. I did have a question regarding g it that maybe you guys can help me with. I live in a small apartment and do not have the room to swing a club even waist high to waist high, I get to out local indoor simulator twice a week, once for league and once for practice.

is it even worth spending the money?

Can you go outside and swing in your yard?

Some days. But come January when we have 3 feet of snow it’s kind of tough

Essentially, the PlaneMate helps you do a few things:

  • Take the club back without rolling it inside.
  • Get to the top reasonably well on plane.
  • Lay it down a bit from there.
  • Pivot through without throwing the clubhead at the ball.

I've bolded a few of the things that I think people are overlooking. These may be MORE important than the "helps you shallow it in transition." Heck, not everyone needs to shallow it, but a lot off people need more of those two bold things.

This seems pretty clever. The fact that it's sold out also says something. I might be adding this on my "From Santa, To Me" list 😄

Use the links above. It’s a good tool for three things.

Least of which is “shallowing.”

Right. And the second item in that list isn’t in my three. The other three are.

I follow a lot of instructors on social media and while I wouldn't say it's going viral (maybe it is, or awfully darn close), it is getting a lot of good word of mouth and they love it. Getting a big case of FOMO.

I ordered it but it won’t come until late February.

I preordered for the second wave and just got notification that it shipped yesterday. Looking forward to finally getting to try it out! Winter is here in Ohio and so I don’t think I’ll be doing much work outside.

I am supposed to receive mine on Tuesday.  We haven't had much winter so far in S. Ohio, but it will probably start Tuesday.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
