I have to disagree with you. I listened to a show the other night and what it is is an alien race stationed nearby released the Covid-19 virus to wipe out the all the alien/ human hybrids. I don't know where you get your information from, but I get mine from the internet and James May. 👽

Do you smoke a pipe when you are putting in your study?

No, but I peruse the shelves of my library and inventory the cigars in my humidor.  😁

@snapfade it is pretty obvious that the aliens are targeting specific individuals...not the population as a whole.  Only those "in on it" are affected.

Those specific individuals are the alien/human hybrids. Go to any Waffle House near Jimmy Carter Blvd. and you will see them.

I'm not selling any of those, but I could part with some beat up golf balls I found on the edge of the pond on #13.  Cheap.  Or I could sell you a used flat putting cup, marked down 50%.

I'll take one of your Gurkha Black Dragons off your hands, cheap, if you have one or two extras.

The uniforms give them away.  That and the suspiciously consistent banter.

Those are the types of cigars you keep in the pocket of your hard collard golf shirt.

It's only going to get worse. At least it hasn't stopped the spring breakers from coming here. About rear ended a guy on the way to the course this afternoon. I was distracted by two very nice looking thongs. Latinas!!

As far as the Golf Digest article goes, how do you stay 6' apart when riding in a golf cart?

2 hours ago, Double Mocha Man said:

One of my local courses is letting singles take a cart, no additional charge.

I guess you each take your own cart, or you walk.

Damned you, @Double Mocha Man You beat me to it.

Yep, from the article:

Quote

Riding in a cart with a friend, for instance, puts you within the six-foot range, which is reason to consider walking or taking your own cart. We normally support taking caddies, but that dynamic poses new risk under the current circumstances.

Isn't it odd that the article makes no mention that most everyones hand goes into the cup on every hole.  That and it's possible the virus can live for several days.  How many hands is that in the virus in the cup lifespan?  Golf courses should just get rid of the cups, draw a circle in the grass instead.

Imo, don't let the ball go in the cup.  Today I just rolled my ball an equal distance from the pin to some old cup mark and putted to that.  Didn't keep score though.

I haven't played golf yet this year, the weather hasn't allow it. But I'm just thinking off the top of my head. Could you take your ball out of the cup and wipe it with a Clorox wipe after each hole?

Or perhaps you putt to a flag without a hole. Just knock your ball off the flagstick? … I don't know... just thinking this through.

One of the important things:

Touching an infected surface does not give you COVID-19, the disease brought on by this novel coronavirus. Touching an infected surface and then immediately touching your face is the problem.

I posted this link to a helpful map in another thread; but it probably fits here too:

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
