Hey Trappers,

I did a Title Search and didn't find anything current on this subject. I am looking for some recommendations for Golf Podcasts that you find interesting. I did see a reference for LSW on a PGA affiliate so I am going to check that out. Thanks for any feedback.

I enjoy No Laying Up. Irreverent discussion about all things golf, interesting interview guests. Over the last few years it seems like their popularity has increased significantly and now they have a lot more sponsors, so there are ad reads to fast forward through.

I also like The Fried Egg by Andy Johnson.

I've listened to the Golf Science Lab by Cordie Walker - I enjoyed some of the subjects covered, but the background music he used/uses really got on my nerves for some reason, so I haven't listened for awhile.

Thanks for the feedback,

I did try Golficity and the back and forth is good. Its two guys that have good banter and a very basic understanding of the golf swing through the weekend warrior perspective. You just have to get through the first 12 minutes of sponsors and babble. Today I listened to Mark Immelman (On the Mark) interview Bob Ford who is the head pro at the local elite golf club Seminole. Since I've played there a few times I found it to be entertaining and you can never go wrong with some Hogan stories.

The Athletic Motion Golf guys have a podcast that I think is really good. I’ve only listened to a few so far (just found out about it), but it’s been really high quality. The newest one was about how to effectively integrate swing changes during the season.

If you are a fan of AMG (who isn’t?!) you’ll probably enjoy it.

NLU for my weekly recaps of the tour + some great guests from time to time.

Chasing Scratch is hilarious. 2 guys in their 30s trying to get to scratch (in a year)....less about golf, more about them "being headcases" (their words). Their movie and steroid era baseball references are incredible. Definite entertainment value here.

GolfinHistory. Loved the first 20 or so, but stopped listening when they started doing more modern stuff (say 60s an on or so). I always check on this hoping that they do another one about the old times, and sometimes I'll listen to some select episodes over again, particularly the first couple

Thanks guys, I have been giving "On the Mark" a go and heard the show that featured @iacas. If you are on this forum you should do yourself a favor and give it a listen. Good stuff!

I really wish I had the time to listen to more of No Laying Up.  It's great when I get to listen to it.

Other than that, I pretty much listen when I'm told someone like Erik or Dave (or Mark Broadie) is on a podcast, I'll listen to that episode.

Before the virus, their YouTube channel was pretty active too, so doubly hard to keep up.

I remember!  I also ironically had more podcast time then because I had effective downtime where I could listen but not much else (e.g., commute time).  Not much of that anymore.  I have a few things I listen to when I'm cleaning my house (not like I'm having guests, but I like it for me) or going to the grocery store.

No Laying Up is a good combination of event recaps, general golf stuff, and solid interviews.

If you want something that goes really deep into the tour, Shotgun Start is good for that. It's an acquired taste, though.

Jake Hutt has a new podcast - Far from Par. First episode is not all golf, it starts off with college hockey, and there's NSFW language, but Hutt is a charismatic guy and also on the irreverent side, forewarning. But he is always an interesting listen.

I also listen to some of Jake Killeen on YouTube. Here he is interviewing Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas dude.

Quote

Matt from YouTube channel, Golf SideKick is a YouTuber who plays golf all over the world documenting his golf rounds he plays both by himself and with subscribers, Professional players and coaches to give insights to his followers on how to have fun again and improve playing this great game. He joins me on EP12 for a fun in depth look at the golf industry, what is working and not working, we also discuss how he has amassed a following of 90k subs on YouTube. I find out how he went from not breaking 90 to low single figures utilising his developed strategy, 'the way of the playa'.

I love the No Laying Up guys the podcasts are alright but their YouTube series are phenomenal highly recommend Tourist Sauce and Wild World of Golf.

I also don't mind the No Putts Given group but they can be a little insufferable at times.

I don't know if they qualify as a podcast but I truly enjoy the TXG guys a lot of tech nerd talk where a lot of the time it's over my head but I'm trying to learn and I like Matty and Ian.

Without a doubt though the best podcast is Golf.coms Subpar. Former pro golfers interviewing current pro golfers I have loved every episode I've seen. Colt and Drew seem like great, fun dudes and it's cool to see some of the pros personalities. Hopefully they'll start getting some of the younger stars.

    • Day 42 - Practice session mainly focused on driver. Couple minutes of putting too making sure I did my routine and lined my putter up the same on every putt.
    • If they're just at the start of every fairway… you don't really need a set of tees there, do you? 🙂 People say that, but I don't think it happens nearly as much as they seem to think. At least not since the "golf should beat you up" approach of the 1990s. Heck, WW's back tees are 6840… and the blues are just under 6500… and most people play the whites or forward. Par 72, too. I think people generally are pretty good about playing the set of tees that work pretty well for them. I've seen many courses that do that. Often the courses that have a "red" theme like the "Cardinal" course or something will have the back tees as the "red" tees or the "crimson" tees or whatever. I also like non-colors, like Tobacco Road uses the "Ripper" tees and the "Spike" (I made that one up I think?) tees, so you really have no idea which is which.
    • Day 217, June 5, 2023 Caddied for a player in the US Junior Am qualifier. Did a little mirror work in the evening when I got home.
    • Day 74: 6/5/23 Stack neural training.  2nd session in a row with a dip in speed. Will see what happens on Wednesday prior to a vacation with my family.
