This was in my feed - I thought I would be in the majority, I was not. Poll from Golf Rabble on Instagram. Percentages below. Of course it's all subjective.

Add justin rose to the mix and I’d go with him. But i was similar to you. Thought it would be easily the other way.

I guess McIlroy is younger and has more Instagram followers and Instagram trends younger. If it were a more old school mainstream media outlet doing the poll, or broadcast tv, it would be different.

They are both really great swings. I went with Rory because it has a bit more power.

I voted McIlroy based on my same argument I say to people who are still upset that grunge became more popular than hair metal, technically proficient =/= aesthetically pleasing.

Okay I was in high school for hair metal, and college for grunge and I have no idea what you are talking about.

I voted Rory. Scott has a great swing. I think Rory's swing is more visually appealing. It flows better.

I play guitar and a common argument is that grunge guitar was simple and "lazy" while hair metal guitarists actually had talent. For instance Smells Like Teen Spirit is exponentially more popular than Van Halens Eruption (first song that came to mind). Despite the fact someone who has never picked up a guitar could learn the SLTS riff in a day while it would take years and years of dedicated training to play Eruption SLTS is more appreciated by people who don't play guitar. Not directly comparable but I bet if you showed both these swings to people who know nothing about golf the vast majority would choose Rory because it is in fact "prettier" and not just appreciated by golfers for being incredibly technically proficient.

Rory's swing seems prettier.

IDK about pretti'est' though. I would argue Oosthuizen has the most fluid motion I have ever seen.

Interesting point. When it comes to music I have a tin ear. I can play nothing. I understand nothing. But I like almost everything.

That's not a swing! That's a sledgehammer attack.

Scott is textbook and smooth. Rory is textbook and violent.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
