You could see he clearly dented it. As he walked away, he looked back and hesitated, wondering if he should go back and fix it. He did not. I'm sure it will cost him.

I think he wanted to fix it, but how do you fix a crater? That's when I think he made the decision that there were no groups behind him and let the greenskeepers do it.

I think it is wrong to intentionally damage any part of the course at any time, even if last group of the day.  The greens need to recover from the normal wear & tear and adding to that is not just acceptable to me.

Well he didn’t pull a Sergio and hammer the end into the ground. He just pounded down the bottom of his putter. I don’t think it really did much damage but I didn’t see the spot up close.

Who is this? I'm terrible with faces. Gonna guess Stuart Appleby?

I'm fine with long hair but it doesn't work that well on Stuart.  When he played on tour it was quite short, under a visor.  Kudos to Golf Channel for not asking him to cut it shorter.

It's the long hair that throws you off, I think.  Took me a second as well.

With the accent you had to limit your guesses to Australian golfers.  And rule out Greg Norman...

When I first saw him on the Golf Channel I had no idea of who he was.  I kept waiting for a graphic at the bottom of the screen.  I realized he somehow had to knowledgeably be involved in the world of golf.  Finally, the other anchor used his name...

Even though the 16th green made Lashley 4 putt, he should have slammed his putter on the fringe.  But we all have those moments.  Perhaps he should have snapped his putter shaft over his knee, instead.  Does anyone here lip read?  Looks like he had a strong utterance after his last putt went in the hole.

I hate greens that do that.
They really should come out with a putter throw tutorial as the club-throwing ones don’t really apply as well around the greens.

Some great examples over the years:

Whether you are weekend warrior or a touring pro, there's one thing we can all...

Edit:

I found a greenside toss doing no damage to the green:

I’m calling it now: Spieth wins the masters this year. I like what I’m seeing in him now. He’s not back to 2015 form, but he’s much better than he has been in some time.

Fast forwarded through 4th round last night. From the limited amount I saw , it looked like Spieth was hitting a fair amount of greens albeit a few from the rough. If anything he didn’t make the most of his opportunities with the putter.

Spieth's SG stats for the tournament.

His putting let him down, especially in the 3rd round. -1.287 is not good at all. Also, he cooled down with his approach shots and then in the 4th round his tee shots cost him a bit.

I think he's closer than he's been in a while.

Bold! I like the enthusiasm and, with Tiger out of the field, would enjoy seeing that as well.

My prediction is looking better and better. Spieth isn't one of those guys that loses the next week just because he won the previous week. In fact, I think it lights the fire and confirms what he's been doing. I like him a lot next week.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
