Looked like a tough day today. Jon Rahm didn't make the cut. I guess staring daggers at the camera didn't improve his putting any.

And, what's with DeChambeau? All his length doesn't seem to be doing much good for him that I can see. He managed to sneak in under the cutline with a +2 but not a very good showing. Maybe if he dropped the Iron Byron look and added a bit more fluidity to his swing?

Gary Woodland is doing OK so far but I expect to see him sag as the pressure builds. Hovland had a hard day, too, but only 5 shots back

Well he won a pretty tough US OPEN so I think he’s got what it takes. BD pretty much a mess. Always having to resort to hero shots from tough spots off the fairway aren’t gonna win him too many tournaments. I would assume his SG off the tee were pretty poor for these rounds.

Was just watching Rory's highlights from day 2. From 1 over to 4 under.  What ball striking. Amazing.  Looks like he is recovering from his ill fated attempt to gain more distance after Bryson's win in the US Open. Can see him winning this tournament if the form continues for two more days

You're correct - he did win that Open and that was a big win but I'm not sure he's there, yet. I am rooting for him, though.

Yeah, he had a very good round. It'll be interesting to see if that continues tomorrow.

Wow…they finally realized we don’t need to watch Mary Mack do her spiel on Wells Fargo. They started to then put her on Pic-in-Pic. They’re finally learning we don’t need to go away from golf to watch talking heads.

They should have made her sing this song.

Yeah even for him it has to get wearing at some point having so few "normal" second shots. I wonder if what you said in that other thread about quick swing fixes might apply here a bit to Bryson and his transformed physique. Have definitely noticed the lack of fluidity in his swing that OP alluded to and can't help but to think he maybe overdid the bulking a little bit.

I think BD may just be a ‘horses for courses’ guy. Hitting it as long as he does increases his misses when he’s off. There are just certain courses where being off the fairway is more punitive than others. I didn’t see the stats but it sure seems like he’s having to make recovery approaches more often than green or flag stick shots.

Bryson flew back to Dallas because he thought he missed the cut, finds out about his mistake, flew back to North Carolina at 2am. Finished with a top 10 which moves him to #1 in the FedEx Cup.

You would think a US Open venue would be one and yet. Though I recall reading something that said they actually helped Bryson there with how the course was set up. Think it had to do with the really narrow fairways?

Well the greens at Quail Hollow were pretty damn tough even for guys hitting short irons in. Narrow fairways don’t really matter if the rough isn’t penal. BD just couldn’t get into a position to make any decent attempt at an approach to make birdies.

Would you say the rough at Winged Foot was penal?
