- PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf"

The 2022 season starts this Thursday.

Many of The Sand Trap members have been partaking in Fantasy Golf for over a decade now, and we welcome all TST members to join our robust league. In the past, we have played ESPN, then Yahoo, and The Golf Channel fantasy leagues, and have used the PGA Tour Fantasy site since last season; it is fun, engaging, and does not take a lot of time, and from my experience, keeps me more interested in the PGA Tour throughout the season. And TST League is always one of the more competitive out there.

Essentially, you have to pick six players per week, and have 4 starters and 2 on the bench; the bench is there to sub in in case of missed cut etc....the catch is the season is divided into 4 Segments, and you only get to use a player 3 times per segment, so some roster management is needed. For example, even if you only put a player in your roster for a single round, it uses up one of the 3 starts for that player for the segment. Points are awarded in each round for each player for a multitude of factors (see link to the rules at the end of this post).

To join, you must first go to https://www.pgatour.com/fantasy.html and create a Team.

Once you have done this, you go to the fantasy golf to the right tab, and choose the red "Fantasy Golf". Then,  you can join the TST Fantasy Golf league by following these steps:

Join my league in PGA TOUR Fantasy #PGATOURfantasy Golf

League URL: https://fantasygolf.pgatour.com/leagues/2070?join_token=1585AD3B67 - PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf

League Name: TST Fantasy Golf

When you sign up, I so highly recommend that you sign up for the roster alerts, which lets you know if you have not filled your roster before the deadline, and then also alerts you if a player has missed a cut, WD etc. If you miss a week, you can still play along, but it is hard to catch up.

Description: PGA TOUR Fantasy allows you to show off your knowledge of the sport by picking a team of 6 PGA TOUR Professionals (4 Starters, 2 Bench). Scoring is live and exclusive using PGA TOUR Shotlink and based on player performance on the course. Play with your friends in a private group or test your skills in one of our public groups. Whether you want to play for prizes, glory or bragging rights PGA TOUR Fantasy is the only live fantasy game where the outcome of each shot matters.

If you are already a member of the League from last year, no need to join again....just set your roster and our League stays there....I have tagged everyone here who was in last year, or posted in the previous threads and showed some interest. Spread the word and invite other TST members and see if we can get our numbers up.

Good luck to all.

A heads up to the past members, the PGA Tour has changed their App for Fantasy golf. I had to go into the App Store and update it to the new one. My initial take on the new App is a resounding Meh!. I have someone on the bench I want to put into my roster, so a simple swap, and after about 5 minutes gave up. I am hoping it is karma and the switch would not have benefited me.

They have also changed the scoring system...more straightforward Stableford type system, with bonus points for top 3 low rounds of the day, and you get 10% of the Fed Ex Cup points a player earns at the end of the tournament. I do like this change.

Thanks @Club Rat for posting this.....I've been busy and never got to it on the weekend.

The group has dwindled somewhat over the last 2 seasons with just the die hards left....would be great to get some new blood.

Also, the website has a new look.
Hopefully the scoring will be better with actual live updates.

Don't really like the updated website but I'm in - and I did have to reregister for the league this year. I fully expect another set of disappointments, like having Brooks in my lineup when he gets injured, again.

On the new website in order to change the roster, it's using the "Drag and Move" method.
I haven't tried it on the App yet, but it could be similar?

Yep, same here... The new site is somewhat "Lame" in perspective with the potential massive audience they have.
As long as it's better with the scoring being somewhat real-time, then it's definitely
a bonus over previous years.

Yes, drag and drop....went to website and did it first, then did same on the APP.....I tried the drag and drop the night before and it didn't catch, so who the hell knows....I don't have a lot of faith in the PGA with their technology.

Good luck to everyone who signed up. I am looking forward to the more simple scoring system.

Basically a Stableford Points system with bonus points for Low Rounds (1st & 2nd)
Plus Points - 1/10th FedEx Cup points awarded per player for the event.

I wonder if the Mulligan Players will receive the FedEx Bonus points?
An example would be inter-changing a bench player during the event.
A team would have 5 active starts, so would each player receive the bonus points?
Deducted points will play a big role in total points over the season !!!

Don't really like the new scoring either.
My best recollection is that it used to be 2 points for par, 4 for birdie, 8 for eagle, not sure about bogey and double and some bonus points.
Seems like a player shooting good round was 45-50 points, bad rounds were 30-40.

Looks like it will be good to get to 40-50 points each round for your entire roster; and having someone WD will be better than shooting over par.
Not sure who came up with the new scoring, or why it was changed.

In the old formats, having players WD or MC were very penal.
A team could lose substantial points when players DNQ or DNS.

The New Scoring Format should keep teams in the hunt during each segment and with the  season totals.

The best thing I like, this new format should prevent @gogolfing from running away with the Trophy.

So I stumbled across on how to change your lineup.
1. Hit Edit Roster.

2. Select the Round, say Round 2.

3. Select the Active player you want to move. This means select and hold your finger on the player (place finger on the player image) and drag the player down to the player you want to replace him with and let go. Drag the player and put him over the player you want.

This can be found no where in FAQ.

Good Luck.

Anyone else not getting notifications that a player is not entered.

Yes this will occur if one sets their lineup early on Tuesday mornings.
Last week I tried to select several players and the site showed the player not entered.
I then went back and selected the player again and then it showed the player was entered.

I'm not impressed with the new site, it's confusing to navigate.
I don't use the mobile side very often, mainly just my pc.

The only thing I like about the site is that it is realtime with points and scores.
A much better improvement over past years,

I think it’s a step backwards.  The previous version you could set your lineups for the next tournament in advance. This version won’t let that happen.  What sometimes looks like an improvement really isn’t.

I’m in another league and 5 of our twelve have quit after two weeks.  All of them citing this new version.

Thanks, I panicked for a little while, then went back to the OP and got it from there.

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
