Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?

I've been on a shopping spree lately, it seems. Bought a new golf bag - Mizuno BR-D4 6-Way in nautical blue - and a new Weatherman umbrella. It's my first real golf umbrella. Could have used it this morning, too, but it arrived in the afternoon. It felt silly spending that much money on an umbrella but I'm hoping it's the last golf umbrella I ever buy.

I almost bought another pair of shoes.

Someone in town was selling a used whygolf pressure plate. I grabbed it. It’s good to remind me about getting the weight forward but I think the big value will be in practicing ball below the feet lies that I really struggle with lol

Oh man I had one today. Ball below and I still chilli dipped it!!

Both the bag and the umbrella came in with plenty of time to spare for my trip. I was worried I might not like the color choice but it’s absolutely stunning in person.

What brand is it? Are there actually items you can't buy online?

If you want the Chinese stuff. I'd look closer to home first, even if they are also made in China. Some of the Temu stuff is stupid cheap and I'm not buying it.

I think you are only playing 3 rounds….i hope this is significantly sufficient supply.

Bought 2 dozen balls.  Hoping that lasts the season….or at least this weekend 😜

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I watched a review on these and the guy reviewing them said he basically couldn't tell the difference between the 2.0's. Did you ever play the 2.0's? Curious if you notice any differences.

I also picked up some balls, but being how much of a novice I am and how often I lose balls I didn't want to buy many and spend much. I've almost gone through my box of Kirkland balls so I picked up a box of Bridgstone e12's and a box of Vice Pro Plus'. Have yet to try them out yet. Probably going to start off with the e12's. I really like the feel and feedback of a harder ball but I think I want/need the aspects of a softer ball.

I'm curious why you say that? Because I like the harder ball for feel and feedback or because they just perform better overall or both?

I have not tried the 2.0. The 3.0 seemed to be more durable than the previous Prime Black. I like the 3.0 a lot.

Yesterday I went to Dicks Sporting Good Warehouse and picked up 4 loud golf shirts for a total of $65.
This was 2 Bad Bird shirts and 2 Walter Hagens.

Today i just bought a used Bagboy Nitron. Had a $25 amazon gift card and with the cart being used I I only paid $240, which is good considering it retails for $279-$299

    • Day 186 (04 Nov 24) -  More tempo work today (6i into the net)….did notice that the more I “thought” about it, the less solid the strike.  Side bar - thinking it might be time for a new target flag (the hole 1st appeared Thurs and has now grown to look rather “scowled in appearance”):   Finished up with sone bump and runs with the 6i in the backyard…
    • Four shots? And if one of them is good, do you really keep hitting more? Even if you hit all four, since it's basically a four-person scramble… but even better since you can learn directly from previous shots, that's gonna be like 120 full swings. I'd go pretty high in the handicap range against a Tour player (assuming it's a typical 7000 yard course or shorter) given four attempts.
    • Sorry, what has this to do with 'Tour stats'? If the idea is that you have to be a PGA Tour pro level short game to shoot low 70s driving it 160ish, then you may be overestimating the difficulty in doing so playing super short tees as @iacas mentioned.  Obviously I don't know the course/courses your friend is taking about but we have quite a few super seniors (70+) at my home course who do just that from super short tees (5,400 yards). There's only one par 4 over 300 yards. Majority average 260ish. The two par 5s are less than 400 yards. From the short tees the margin of error in keeping the ball in play is super wide. Additionally they don't hit hard enough to hit big hooks and slices.  They don't 'throw darts' but instead run up the ball on the green or around it all day. Not terribly hard.
    • This reminded me of a (fictional) book I read about a golf hustler.  One game he used was to play against a good player.  he'd play his own ball straight up, the other guy was allowed to play the best of 4 attempts, similar to your scenario, but with double the chances.  The other guy got ahead early, but was exhausted after 8 or 10 holes of hitting 4 drives, 4 approaches, etc., on every hole.  Again, this was fiction, but it has a ring of truth to it.  So in your scenario, I'd wonder whether a single player taking two attempts at each and every shot would get pretty fatigued before the end of the round.  With a little self-control, taking a second try only when there was real improvement available, he might do really well.
