I’ll take McIlroy and Hovland instead!

This is a great leaderboard. Looking forward to the weekend.

Rory and DJ in the same group tomorrow would be something. I wonder how much friendly chatter there would be.

Rory: Hey DJ, how ya holding up with all the controversy?

DJ: Over what?

I am a little peeved that I tuned in early (for me, I'm on Pacific time) and the bulk of the shots I've seen are from Sergio or Bryson.  I have more dislike for those two men now than I did six months ago.

I am not enjoying how well Bryson is playing today.  Good for him, 16/16 GIR.  Please put a few in the hotel pool on the next tee.

I did enjoy watching Garcia take three to get out of a greenside bunker on the fifth hole.

Bryson's second consecutive three putt is nice too (although the previous one was really an off-green shot with a putter for the first).

Edit I stand corrected, Bryson four-putted on 16.

Seventeen is really a fun hole to watch. Very much enjoying this. 42% GIR for the tournament so far.

McIlroy and Hovland four ahead before Sunday? I wouldn’t dare to dream of it. More than makes up for Tiger’s +9. They played really well today, almost without bigger errors. Hovland had quite a few 3-6 footers for par, but drained them all.

Good morning!  I'll be watching on various TVs throughout the morning.

Highlight of the round so far are Xander's four birdies and Varner demonstrating why he's the second best dunker of anyone who wears the same logo he does.  Nearly made a 2 on a par 5 in a major.

Pretty disappointed by the yt coverage. The range streams are great but highlights are absolutely abysmal.

TaylorMade just aired a commercial about Morikawa and DJ trespassing into a golf course.  Well, that was the plot of the commercial, I'm sure the two didn't actually trespass to film it.

Fun to watch, looking forward to the final round. Nice to have it on DVR, where you can skip through the long coverage. Rory's sand hole-out was great, but do we really have to see it replayed six times?

He made a putt one of these days that they replayed 8-10 times from various angles within several minutes after it had happened. It wasn’t incredibly long, but he had a gallery behind him that roared, so they got some good shots.

Soft course and low scores today, so the winner will probably have to make some birdies out there.

Yeah, they were saying that on NBC's broadcast.  Good thing for Rory and Viktor they had a nice lead going into today bc they've been playing pretty standard early.

And just as I type that, Viktor hiccups on the 4th.

Rory just hit a great 50 yard putt on #6.  This is a lot better than a 50 yard putt I once hit.  The tenth hole at Hansen Dam has a very elevated green.  The pin was on the front and my birdie attempt was coming from the back of the green.  I hit the putt more than a tad too hard.  It rolled up to the cup, past the cup, onto the collar, to the fairway, and down the hill.  I went from having a birdie putt to having a 45 yard pitch on my par attempt.

Interesting decision by Rory to putt there on 6

When the ball ended up in the walk area. I thought there would no chance to have an easy pitch shot. Putting was the first option that came to mind for me.

The leaders has needed that lead so far, but there are lots of holes left for the chasing players. Lots of holes for the Camerons to make a bogey or three too of course.

A birdie or two for Rory and Viktor to get things going would be nice.

Young seems like a cool cookie, and long hitter. Incredible rookie year so far. A potential major winner and top player right there.

    • New clubs came in this morning and I happened to be working in the area so I picked them up. PING G430 Max 3W (-1.5°) with PING Tour 2.0 Black 75, X-Stiff at -1/2" PING G430 3H with PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 85, X-Stiff Those replace my old fairway wood and hybrid, making all 14 clubs in my bag fitted. I'm going to need new excuses for bad shots 😜
    • Ooh, I don't know about that. I've hit flop shots that are 6-7° down. The more you widen the spin loft the less ball speed you put into the ball.

    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
    • Day 14 (15 May 24) - Worked with the SW in the backyard, short pitches from 10yds up to 30yds.   Focused on ball placement in stance - ball back, ball forward, ball center.  Afterwards moved to inside the shop to work on putting pace on the rug - putting one way gives about an 8' putt, going the other a 6' before bumping onto the adjacent rug.  Focused there on the line - picking a target point about 18"-24" out and making sure the ball rolls through that point.
