There are several long distances through a subdivision between a green and the next tee. When I used to play there a couple times a year, cart fees were included in the greens fee and cart use was all but mandatory.

It’s one of the courses that for junior events where they must walk they provided several shuttles.

Measuring one of the paths through the neighborhood, it is just over 1/4 of a mile from green to the next tee box. It looks like you need to do that walk twice (6-7 and 14-15).

Long walks are…

3-4, 6-7, 14-15, and… kinda 17-18. You mostly missed 3-4.

Anyway, everyone's riding.

@StuM can make up the scorecards… so be prepared to give him a handicap index by the 19th of May. That's this Friday.

Text him or send him a DM. That way he can prepare the cards before we get there.

If everyone puts in $20 (please bring it in fives and ones!)… let's do these:

  • $5 Net Skins
  • $5 Gross Skins
  • $10 Game below.

For the game… $30/team with 7 teams is $210 total. Payouts:

  • 1st: $105 ($35 each)
  • 2nd: $60 ($20 each)
  • 3rd: $30 ($10 each)
  • Last: $15 ($5 each)

All that is still off the top of my head. Subject to change, and @StuM has the most latitude to change anything. It's "his" event.

The Game:

  • 3 golfers over 18 holes is 54 scores.
  • Of those, you must choose 30* scores (@StuM will choose a number from 27 to 36). You must choose the scores you're going to use or not use before you tee off on the next hole. You must use the required number of scores.
  • Those net scores relative to par are your score for the hole. (i.e. so a birdie is a birdie, even if it was on a par five).
  • You can circle the scores you're using and write the net score down below (i.e. a birdie and a par is -1 total, with two scores counted) along with a running count of the number you've used.

I'll make groupings (not pairings, @StuM! 😄) as we get close to the date.

DM me if you have any semi-strict preferences. I'll keep them in confidence. I know 16 or 17 of you don't want to play with me, and NOBODY wants to play with @ChetlovesMer, so… I'll do my best. Bwah ha ha ha. 😉

So, I'm absent from the forum for a few days and Yoda starts giving me crap. 🤪

BTW - I know I haven't been posting lately. ... still working on my game just haven't been online much. But I am still coming to this meet up. AND I'm looking forward to it.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I'll figure out the game later, but I have some ideas.

Looking forward to seeing all you you this weekend.

I've gotten a few emails with HCPs.  If I do not get a message we will just use what is on your TST Profile.  Now would be a good time to make sure that is up-to-date.

We are going rain or shine and current forecast is a high of 74 with 46% chance of rain, which means 54% chance of no rain.  But that is a few days away so we will see.

Also, sorry about the change from Groups of 3.  As Erik posted above we will have 3 Foursomes and 3 Threesomes starting at 1pm.

Do we want the foursomes ahead of the threesomes? Won’t that slow the threesomes down?

Just play at a 4 hour pace and they will be fine 😉.

Also, not sure we want groups waiting around 30 minutes for other groups to come in.

You won’t need to play a second ball because the rules official is in your group 😉

Nah. 😄 If you don't send a handicap index, you'll be given the lowest we have (probably mine). So if you're a 10.1 that wants to play to a +1.5 or something… don't send in your index!

It usually rains more in the evenings this time of year.

Yes, and no. Foursomes can play as quickly as threesomes. And y'all have to wait until the last group is done anyway.

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
