But they qualified on points so the point is moot isn’t it?

I know they qualified on points, it was more of a point that when comparing players it's entirely possible that a player(s) without a win(s) played better golf/is more deserving to be on the Ryder Cup team over someone who has had multiple wins early in the season but hasn't done much lately.

Keegan should be on the team as well as Tony Finau and Lucas Glover. You have the Captains picks so you can get players who are on the rise with their game. JT, Spieth and Burns do not qualify for this criteria. This mumbo Jumbo about team chemistry is just nonsense. I think there was some pressure from big money sponsors who calculate that big name recognition is more important than actual quality of play. If they get a 10% larger viewing audience in a loss to Europe it is better then a victory with 10% less viewers. Sadly it comes down to the almighty advertisers dollar.

He's got lawsuits hanging over his head, so his head might not be in it if he was to have made the team.

I've seen a few "JT Shouldn't Have Made it on the Team" articles and read comments people have posted for and against him. My two cents is he is one of the best Ryder Cup players the US has had in recent years. Good ol' boy stuff going on? Of course to some extent I would think. You want guys that click together, not just a band of misfits. Lots of these guys live close by, so its just what it is. Not really going to matter though, Europe will take it. I don't really get hyped up over the Ryder Cup, its just for the most part separate the best players in the world by where they are from for a few days and have them go at it. Any other week it would be a Major. Unless you follow the DP World Tour, my favorite, some of the guys you might not recognize.  Fitzpatrick is trying to secure that last spot this week in Switzerland over Fleetwood in the final world points list, I believe they will both be there either by points or Captains picks. Yanik Paul and Robert MacIntyre will get in by the Europe Points list. Hey, Patrick Reed, Sergio and Poulter aren't in it so that's good for everyone.

Finau has two victories in this last season. Spieth has none. Two or more victories should almost be a lock IMO.

One was in November. The other was in April. That hardly speaks to current form. JT won a major just last year, after all.

Including the PGA, Tony's finishes have been: T72, CUT, T32, T45, CUT, CUT, T7, 64, T37, T20 (out of 30). One top-10 finish, no top-25s in majors (including an MC).

Spieth is the 23rd best player in DataGolf's rankings. Finau is 28th.

I believe you are putting a lot of pressure on a golfer who is currently in the lost and found department.

Maybe so, but he only has to play one round, technically. So… they could take a flyer on him.

Finau hasn’t played well this season neither has JT. Team room and players were the difference. They like JT. Major winner winning Ryder Cup record. It really will come down to pairings. JT and Speith are the pairing. No doubt. JT will have to be awful in opening secession for him to sit multiple secessions.

I think the RC is just a different animal. I’m not sure a lesser known player who’s been playing well is an easy pick over a past proven strong performer. I know we’ve all discussed the mental aspect of the game and its influence. But some of these guys just have a whole different ‘attitude’ when they’re playing on a RC team.

JT May have played relatively poorly of late, but he’s not playing out there to pay bills. If he’s struggling during a tournament it’s not like he’s pressed and worried about that new pool he’s putting in. With the RC I think he and others get that ‘fire’ that brings out their talent. Just my take.

The Ryder Cup is the best golf event to be watched. 2nd the Masters. That is my take.

Yeah its really US thats been dominating the last years.... 😃 9-5 to Europe over last year.
my guess is that US team will complaint about the course and then Europe wins. Close - but Europe wins with home course advantage.

Yes anyone who thinks this Ryder Cup will be dominated by either team and esp by an away team hasn't followed the Cup .. I have nil issues with the JT pick .. I think team USA really want to take a very close-knit team of guys who know each other much better than team EUR ..

some of these BIG name EUR boys are looking good and home advantage .. new EUR boys must step-up ... rattle the tight-knit Team USA along with the crowds ...

Can't wait ...

Regardless of the makeup  of the USA Team they are going to have their hands full. It is a very weak team compared to those of the past. Europe has top players playing in top form.  Vegas has Europe as a solid favorite.

What sportsbook? I haven't seen any sportsbooks that have Europe as favorites let alone "solid" favorites.

Fanduel has US as -125 favorites

bet365 has US as -138 favorites

Draftkings has US as -140 favorites

betMGM has US as -125 favorites

Can you please stop making claims that aren't based on facts?

I'm still waiting for you to provide facts that show how Finau's game is on the rise right now while Spieth's is not.

Maybe he got his information from here and doesn't understand the difference in the -/+ in front of the numbers.

You already said that and already got responses to it that you have ignored.

Finau’s victories were a long long time ago.
