If I had to carry those bags, I’d wear shorts in winter. I’d sweat buckets otherwise.

Ok sure, some people run hot, but you know there's times those guys are just trying to be tough when it's an early tee time with 46° with 25 mph winds at the British Open

I find David Lingmerth and his Oompa Loompa arms and his 24" inseams genuinely disturbing

Oompa loompa doompety doo

If you like golf here's something for you

Oompa loompa doompety dee

Golf is hard so listen to me.

What do you get when you slice off the tee?

A taste of a life that you didn't foresee.

How do you swing so the ball will go straight?

Maybe you should try to shift. Your. Weight?

I don't like the looks of this.

Oompa loompa doompety da

If you swing fast then the ball will go far.

You would live in happiness too.

Like the Oompa Loompa Doompety do!

Nice write-up on the strength of the PGA Tour:

GettyImages-1473066406-scaled-e167867659

Scheffler ran away with The Players Championship on Sunday, vaulting himself back to No. 1 in the world.

Good point: "Worth considering, it might be wise for those players complaining about the tour siphoning off the lower parts of its totem pole to at least pick up the pace. And perhaps some premier players could hurry the hell up, too. When play was suspended at 4:47 p.m. Friday, 71 players remained on the golf course despite there being no prior delays. As noted by AP golf writer Doug Ferguson, in events played on a single course, the tour has not completed the second round of a tournament on a Friday since Nov. 4 in the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba."

Hmm.. let's see. Mike Weir is on the Champions Tour. Paddy H. too while we are talking about it. JV has been playing, just not making it to the weekend too often. I think he did at the Honda Classic. Hunter is semi retired I think, heard him on NLU podcast. Don't know about OS. I guess I could look each one up but don't care to enough.

You could have thrown Sean O'Hair on your list.

Well, two of your four are pretty darn old… and the other two, just aren't terribly good at golf right now.

That's what I thought. I remember the name from an NLU podcast from their Callaway days talking about the increased ball speeds from the flash face technology, and they also joked about how good his hair was.

    • The wind might be different above 60 feet, but peak height for many golfers is 80-90 feet, so it's spending a good chunk of its time being affected by the wind below 60 feet. But, yes, judging the wind is one of the toughest things. We've had a very windy spring, but it's been a bit more normal lately.
    • So, I was watching some YouTube golf. Ryan Ruffels mentioned that the Australian National Golf Team brought in the sailing team to teach them how to read wind. They said that anything above 60-FT in-the-air basically fallows the wind currents. So, picking up any grass and throwing it in the air is basically pointless since most all golf shots are going to be above 90-FT in the air. He did make the comment that if you do play on courses where trees are routinely above 60-FT, then the swirling wind matters. That is why, like on the 12th hole at Augusta, it's a pain. The trees down there influence that shot. If your shots are getting near the top of the trees, or above the trees, look up the direction of the wind. If you want to get a better gauge of the wind. Go to the national weather service. If you type in the zip code for the location of the course, at the bottom of the page there is a clickable image for a graph of the weather, Hourly Weather Forecast.  The graph will have surface wind (33-FT above ground), but it will tell you the direction the wind is coming from (i.e. out of the north). If you want to be really technical about it. Going from 33-FT to 100-Ft in height, you are increasing wind speed by about 25% as well.
    • If you are the golfer who wants to go out on the weekend. Enjoy a few beers with some friends, hacking it around the course. Don't have intention of practicing to get better. Then go buy the cheapest golf balls. Don't waste money when you are not putting in the effort.  The opposite is true. If you plan on getting trying to get better, playing more, practicing more, or if you are a halfway decent to very good golfer who is in the wrong golf ball. Getting into the right golf ball for your game is beneficial. You are putting in time, money, effort into your game. Why devalue that effort or hurt your game by playing a crappy golf ball.
    • Golf balls are not all the same, no. You're right about that. Finding a good golf ball for your game is important to play your best.
