Yeah,  but I didn't know if I needed to adjust anything in entering my rounds, like add 1 to my score to make it equivalent to a par 72 course.

I’m not worried about it. I doubt it’s going to be that accurate where a strike matters.

I sorted the date column again, and added my 74 with 12 GIR and 29 putts.

The formula is off by 3, but is off by 5 if I would have taken 31 putts.

The data is pretty interesting so far....

I think I get the 31 putts (over and under is the variance) as being an optimal predictor of score given the number of greens hit. Please elaborate on the significance of 31. Thanks!

I just threw yesterday's round in there. Too many penalty shots yesterday. Otherwise it would have been pretty close.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Posted my round of 75 with 32 putts and 11 GIR today. I didn't try to make too many putts, but it was still okay.

This morning I shot 75 with 10 greens, 29 putts, and 2 penalty strokes. The formula nailed it. @iacas what is the significance of 31  putts in the spreadsheet?

    • When Dave Pelz’ books came out in 1999-2000 I went all in and bought many of his short game tools - O Balls, Elk’s Key, putter and wedge tape, putter clips and his True Roller for showing the true break for a putt. The True Roller was also great for validating Pelz’ assertion that you should leave the flag in, such as putts from the fringe, and by extension chips and pitches.  The great thing about the True Roller is it had marks on the side so you could replicate putts with the same speed. For putts that were rolling more than 2’ by the hole, my testing dramatically showed that the flagstick clearly helped hole more putts - more so on downhill putts, but clearly better in all cases.    The worst results for me with the flag in were uphill under reads that hit a glancing blow on the flag stick. These could ricochet pretty far, but unimpeded putts usually went by much further. It was a rare event, for me, when the flagstick out was better than the flag stick in the hole. I have read recent studies that say otherwise, but my experience has affirmed that the flag stick should stay in if you get the chance.
    • Maybe it would have gone in.  Maybe it would have hit the back edge and continued rolling 4 or 5 feet past.  What I am completely certain about is that the flagstick slowed the ball and kept it close enough for an easy tap-in.
