With the arrival of the Masters, 2009 Golf officially begins!

Planning anything special for the week? Any traditions you uphold?

For me, other than catching as much coverage as possible, my tradition is to spend the final round with my golf-loving brothers & brothers-in-law. Easter may get in the way of this, but I'm hoping we can make it a combined golf-egg day.

With the arrival of the Masters, 2009 Golf officially begins!

We always watch it, but I have to work on Saturday and Sunday from noon until 9 PM, so I will have to record it.

Here in upstate New York, our golf courses have just opened up, which is normal for this time of the year. The Masters is really the start of the golf season for all of us here. It gets us "fired up" and ready to hit it high and watch it fly, or hit it low and watch it go!! The last two years have been exciting Masters as The Zach Attack and Trevor Immelman beat the Big Boys. With a longer course, the par 5's at #13 and #15 are more legitimate. Remember when Tiger was hitting a 9 iron or wedge for his SECOND shot into those holes? That was making a mockery of the course designed by Robert Tyre Jones, Jr. and Alistair Mackenzie. Now let them hit a 4 iron or 5 iron off a sidehill lie, not hit it flush, and watch the ball splash in front of the green.

I'm working the lottery we have here every year on post. We generally get 100 four day badges and have people register for whichever round they want. Frist 100 winners each day pay $50 and go for the day, and bring badge back by 9 pm. In fact, I just had to go thru all 100 and put them in order. Talk about power at your fingertips!!!

I think we're going to be watching a shit ton of layups now. lol

The Masters is by far my favorite tournament (and I love them all), so I will watch be watching it with my golf partners. The last few years we have played a round early Sunday morning, then go back to someone's house and watch while eating and drinking. As much as I love The Masters, I'm not giving up playing over the weekend, though.

Last year, I invited 3 friends over, none of whom golf, but all wanted to watch the tournament. One has started learning since then. The other 2 can't make it this year. I'm inviting another friend instead. But really, I just sit and watch it on the TV. I even go home for it - mom's TV is much nicer (42" HD vs. my 25" old that doesn't get CBS at the moment).

It started off well yesterday when Boo came by our home course for a clinic....simply awesome.

I have to work during the tourney itself....gonna miss all the coverage...argggghhhh.

We're making plans already for next year's Masters. Going to invite most of the family down to stay with us for the week and spend as much time at the course all day.....and running the grill in the afternoon.

My wife and I fly in some IMO's pizza from St. Louis, close up the house and don't answer the phones.

Some people eat crap on Superbowl sunday, we do it once a year during the Master's. Best part, no stupid half time show.
