I was not hit; but on a very short three, decades ago (1960s), a player teed off while we were still on the green.  Hit my ball and knocked it in the hole.  

This was, if my faded memory recalls correctly, my 4th round of 18 ever!

Not sure what the rule was (either now or then) @iacas? Just added 1 stroke to my score as I would have had to make a short putt anyhow.

Neither a fore or apology was heard.

Thanks, I think I was 14-15 at the time and did not even own a rule book to look at!

I woke up in a bunker once. Apparently I’d hit the shot from the the bunker but it hit the lip and rebounded, hit me flush on the forehead.

I say ‘apparently’ because I don’t remember it; only the waking up bit.

Twice. It hurt, but no damage. I came lose to having my cheek shattered by one, too.

Me and a friend were looking for golf balls on the right side of the fairway along the woods back in the 80's (not playing) and a ball hit my side on the fly so hard I screamed. I lifted my shirt and you could see the dimples from the ball in my skin. If it had hit me in the head, I might not be here today. It felt like a rock hitting me.

I always laugh when somebody shouts "fore left, or fore right". By the time the victim has figured out what is your right and his left, he has been hit. For God's sake everyone, just shout "FORE".

Anyway, a friend of mine was hit whilst on the 12th tee a week ago, The ball bounced off of his wrist, and then hit his hip. The pain took him to the ground, and he rolled around screaming. The guy who did it can running down the fairway of the 11th, as he had just teed off. He was embarrassed and very apologetic. Meanwhile, his friend teed off and nearly hit my friend again. Perhaps some signage would have helped ?

I was hit once in the thigh. I was sitting in the cart, on the cart path, minding my own business. The guy who hit the ball clearly didn't see me, he was over a hill. It's funny how it kind of jerks you back to reality. You feel the pain right away and you're like "What the hell?..." then you realize you've been hit by a ball. 

I remember some 25 years ago, I was playing golf with the owner of the company I worked for and a couple of customers. One customer pulled a hard driver heel-shot. The ball was never higher than six feet off the ground and was a frozen rope until it plugged the owner of my company right between the shoulder blades. I remember the loud "THUMP" and seeing him drop to his knees. Must have hurt like Hell. 

I also remember thanking my stars that it was THE CUSTOMER that hit him and not me. I mean, how mad can you get at a customer?

Almost hit yesterday. We were exiting the green on a four par, about to get into the cart, and about 5 feet behind me a ball hits the ground and bounces into the trap. We had placed the cart directly between where we exit the green, and the path to the next tee, just so we could quickly move away. When it happened, I turned toward the group behind us, and with arms raised, yelled 'FORE' as loud as I could. I don't think they were trying to hit us, but just got impatient. Funny, but after yelling like that, I wasn't even mad. However, if they were to hit into us again on the next hole, my plan was to take the ball, put it in the urinal (bathroom was next to the green) and let them know where it was.

I was playing behind the captain and his wife a few years ago and they were that slow I fired a drive up behind them in the hope they would let us through . The Captain came marching back toward me and obviously quite distressed shouted that I had nearly hit his wife .  I told him to ask her to stand still and I would have another go ………..

Anyway further to previous replies the shouting of 'fore!' was I believe to alert the 'forecaddie' who is positioned ahead of the game to see where the ball lands .  Of course today its used as a warning to others on the course that you have hit a bad one .

Was playing with a buddy once and we were hitting our second shots on a par 4.  Some jackwads teed off thinking we were far enough ahead and hit my buddy on the ribcage right around where his elbow would be with arms at rest.  He was a stocky guy so he knelt down for a bit and then got up and walked it off.

I got hit in the thigh by a bouncing shank from an an old lady a few years ago.  No warning and no apology in both cases.

I've never hit someone but like I mentioned in another thread I hit a goose during 2 different rounds the same year the old woman hit me.
