Current: once apon a time, arrow, black list, the league, it's always sunny in Philadelphia, community, how I met your mother, mom, Chicago fire, criminal mind, rookie blue, true blood, crossing lines, californacation,

Older: dexter, breaking bad, weeds, the unit, PRISON BREAK(favourite), rules of engagement, Whitney

I loved The Unit. The language of it, due to David Mamet, was something you rarely see on network TV. Community was hilarious. True Blood got to be a little too much after season 3.

I have yet to be wowed like I was after seeing The Wire, Battlestar Galactica, The West Wing, Six Feet Under or Lost (although I felt so let down by the final season.) Sherlock, Game of Thrones and Veep come close. Breaking Bad was very good, but wasn't wow.

Just watched the premiere (on demand - they're 3 or 4 episodes in now) of The Blacklist last night and really liked it.

It was very Silense Of The Lambs-y in that the main female is a brand new FBI profiler, who is also young and cute, and the lead male is a criminal (from the Top 10 wanted list) who helps her find other bad guys (who clearly has ulterior motives, and also knows way to much about the girls personal life)

Looking forward to the next few episodes.

I've seen all 4 episodes so far. Interesting premise, and I really like James Spader in the lead role.  Too early to tell whether it will continue to have interesting plot lines, but so far so good.

There are so few TV shows that I care about anymore, to the extent that I make a point of watching them every week.  I suppose CSI is the only one on network TV that I've stayed with through the years.

Cable is another story - Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, Game of Thrones.  All are excellent.

Yes the unit was surprised good. I know I sound crazy but never got into the wire and not a huge fan of game of thrones. Lost was meh alright and yes battle star galactica was good though I only saw one season I believe

Another really good show that is returning soon is Treme. My son has lived in New Orleans since before Katrina so it has additional meaning, as I know most of the areas that are shown and am at least a little familiar with the uniqueness of the city.

I forgot about Treme! I love this show. I know not many do, as it's more slice of life and not plot driven.

That's great.  (I've never seen the show)

I have a friend who, let's just say, is fond of profanities, and he has a t-shirt (that we bought for him) with Goodman's sign off line on it. :)

Oh, and I love San Francisco, but that's a pretty funny synopsis of that town too. ;)

True, but what a great selection of characters: Jazz musicians, corrupt police, politicians and businessmen, activist lawyers, stoner DJ's, bar owners, Indian chiefs (in N.O. they aren't Indian), restaurant chefs, school teachers... Each with their view of post-Katrina New Orleans and each with a love of the city, in their own way.

I'm always impressed at the lineup of musicians who have appeared on the show. A virtual who's who of New Orleans music.

I think the same is true about the Wire.  Most shows have a beginning and an end, and the entire point is to build up to some seminal event.  Treme and the Wire are more like snapshots of a culture.

I think Erik and jamo said they didn't like the Wire in part because they feel invested in the characters and couldn't relate to them.  In my view, that's sort of missing the point about these shows, the Wire in particular.  Its not about the individual characters, its about the city and the culture.  Whether your a politician, dock worker, drug dealer, cop, reporter, whatever...when you're gone somebody just like you takes your place and nothing changes.

Treme does more with the characters but its not like crazy or exciting things happen to them.  Its about how their everyday lives have been affected.

Exactly. There is no story arc, it just is.

I think that was more him than me. I just found some of the more heavily-displayed characters a bit boring (poorly-acted and poorly-developed in a few select cases) and wish they gave more screen time to some of the others.

Here's a scene from another of my favorite shows, Luck, cancelled after one season. About horse racing. I don't even like horse racing, but I love this show. Great acting, cinematography, musical selection, etc...

I love shows like Treme, The Wire, Luck, Deadwood that throw you into a totally different world that you'd never otherwise experience. There aren't enough of them.

In the scene is the great Nick Nolte, and Mark, the nice guy from "Mad About You", playing an about face to his usual characters, a douchey agent.

Start @ 3:00 for the r ace.

    • It's not dumb. It's dumb to randomly allow a free drop that provides an advantage you don't deserve. And your committee had the option of determining it GUR. Did you talk to them?
    • A sand trap is not supposed to have 3 inches of water in it. To me that’s temporary, casual water. Just like if your ball lands in a deep rain puddle in the middle of the fairway. I would have gladly hit out of any spot in that bunker. I understand that it’s a different rule. I just think it’s a dumb rule. You are penalized because it rained.  Here’s what I think is the dumbest rule in golf, and all sports for that matter - professionals playing for millions of dollars in a tournament have to carry around a little pencil and scorecard to keep their score and sign it, when there are big scoreboards all over the course and on tv. Can you imagine the Knicks losing because they didn’t count their score correctly? Like I said, I love the game, but it’s time to move into the 21st century already.
    • Sorry to lose you, thx for letting us know
    • I have to bow out for the weekend. I was only in for Saturday as it was
    • Could course committee have an MLR option to declare this bunker GUR?
