A trip down memory lane. The old HBO intro. And it lives on today during summer outdoor movie festivals. They're cheering the HBO intro! Not that the festival is free has anything to do with it. :-D

These are the shows I want to watch over the holiday.

  • The Man in the High Castle
  • Mozart in the Jungle
  • High Maintenance
  • Transparent
  • Catastrophe
  • Search Party
  • The Crown
  • Medici
  • Versailles
  • OA
  • The Cuba Libre Story
  • This is Us

The amount of content available is crazy. Not going to anywhere near finish this unless I don't sleep. And probably forgetting a few. Meh, maybe I'll just go hit some golf balls instead.

My wife and I usually watch one show at a time that's been out for a while. We are on season 2 of the Americans and I enjoy it.  Watched season 1 and 2 of Fargo before that. Season 1 better than 2. And before that watched breaking bad which is obviously terrific.

I barely put a dent in this list only just managed 3 up to now, throw in BrainDead. Netflix is licensing like it has unlimited money. The latest Sherlock was just okay.

This Netflix One Day at a Time reboot is really good. The laugh track, which seems passe now made me think otherwise. It's really funny, the writing is very sharp there's a lot packed into an episode. Freddy's wife in Six Feet Under and Ned from Groundhog Day are in it.

Better Call Saul season 3 is coming up soon.  Favourite of mine.  Another new season of House of Cards.  LetterKenny is a Canadian comedy which is actually funny in a small Canadian town way.

Hey, things are back to normal, there's "prestige" tv on Sunday nights again to fill the void left by Westworld, Game of Thrones, Leftovers, whatever, yeah, I know Europe has already seen this. In the end, we all love to hear a good story spun, that, will never change.

Well Sherlock Season 4 is over. I get that they're almost movie length, but three episodes still feels like a bit of a sham. :-P Darn the UK and their weird idea of a "season".

Anybody else watching "Sneaky Pete" on Amazon? Giovanni Ribisi and Brian Cranston... pretty good. Stylistically it reminds of the first season of Fargo on FX.

I watched the whole thing . . .and it was very enjoyable except 2 things kept bugging me the *entire* time . . .

1.  No way the family wouldn't know it wasn't the real Pete..and no way they'd act that way if they did know and were, for some reason, keeping it to themselves

2.  Bryan Cranston's character is just a little . .cheesy.  He was incredibly effective as the good guy/nerd turned bad guy in Breaking Bad. .but when starting out as the bad guy he kind of seems a little cartoon-ish.

But I did really like it - especially the Giovanni Ribisi character...and the grandparents and other family members . . .overall some good stuff.

I just saw the first 2 episodes of The Young Pope . .wow . .not what I was expecting and definitely peaked my interest.

I watched the first 20 minutes, looked pretty good so far. Will go back to it, right now focussing on Taboo, which was a bit mystifying at first but looks to have a lot of potential. Could definitely get into Tom Hardy sticking it to the man, 19th century.

    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
