I use an Anteater (mascot of UC Irvine, where I was an undergraduate) on my driver and a Bruin Bear (mascot of UCLA, where I got my Masters' and am currently working on a PhD) on my 3-Wood. My 5-wood has a stock headcover, and I'm looking for a cover that I like for it. I would love Nibbler from Futurama , but as best I can tell, it doesn't exist as a headcover.

Maybe I'll still be looking when I am a post-doc or professor, and in that case, I'll get whatever that school's mascot is on a club.

I use the stock ones on my woods and putter, particularly on the course, but want to replace the wood covers with ones that are longer to protect the shafts as well. I don't use any on my irons.

I have a Pat Perez black boxing glove on my driver , a stock Nickent on my 4 wood , and stock Hogan covers on my hybrids . Same goes for the stock cover on my mallet putter , but I'm sure I will find something to replace the putter cover eventually ... -- K.

I really don't like the zippered head covers (think of Titliest 907s for example.) The 909s have magnetic flaps and the cover extends down further to protect the shaft from banging club heads (irons.) It is still too short by an inch or so.

I like the old fashioned "long narrow sleeve -- big head" types because the shaft is very well protected.

I see some doozie headcovers, but I'm too traditional to put Daffy Duck on my driver -- but if you like that, then why not?

I use the stock for my driver and hybrids. I bought the cool clear/transparent head covers for my irons/wedges so I can see what I am grabbing out of my bag. They also help when you play multiple wedges cause the head cover sets you buy usually only have a pitch and sand, but no wedge or gap. I would love to get a cool head cover for my ft-iq but i cant seem to find anyone that makes any head covers that fit square head drivers. I might have to sew a sock onto a toaster cozy and call it day. :)

Currently stock on my woods.

I'm gaming a Ryder Cup 2008 Team USA SC cover on my SC putter. I may change it for a 2009 Masters SC cover when the time approaches.

I've been pondering some replacement wood covers sporting my college logo. A local golf shop has some in stock...just gotta work on him for a discount...not a well know college locally.

I currently only use stock covers on my woods and hybrid. I am trying to find something different that I would like to actually have on my bag. I love the look of the Jan Craig ones, and will probably pick one or two up. I am thinking of getting a BEVO head cover as I am a huge Longhorns fan.

This is somewhat off topic for this particular thread, but if someone can post a good URL for a good head covers site, that would be awesome. I am looking for some sort of animal or character.

Stock apart from my putter which has a Scotty Cameron British Open '04 headcover. I'm British and like Scottish Terriers so the design seemed perfect.

I don't like using the stock headcovers, I hate to advertise what clubs are underneith the covers. I have a Macaw headcover for my driver (because that ball's going to fly) and then I just have some generic, non-descript black covers on my 3 and 5 woods.

I have the ROSSA head cover on my putter, but I am thinking about changing that one out too.

I have played in some 'sketch' places and I love leaving with as many clubs as I arrived with.

I use stock head covers except for my putter. Thats the one cover that always seems to get lost so I replace it. Plus, if you go to resale a club, the original head cover on the putter seems to be more of an issue then for a driver or 3 wood.

Stock. I would like some Rocket Tour headcovers but they're too expensive. I would get some Mizuno iron covers off of eBay with the Road Runner logos but I think it would be too complicated and odd-looking. I have a 2006 US Open Scotty Cameron headcover with taxis on it.

I don't go for them goofy novelty headcovers much. If I were to switch from stock, there is this company Iliac Golf that sponsors a mini-tour I play on. Good looking and high quality products. Here's a catalog: http://www.iliacgolf.com/pdf/iliac_2009_catalog_sml.pdf Check it out!

I REALLY like these products. Any idea how much the knitted headcovers are? I don't see a price in the catalog. Do you know if you are able to order for single individuals...this catalog looks as though they only do orders for business'.

Anybody else absolutely despise the Taylormade Burner headcover? It's like twice as big as the club head itself. Looks like a basketball on the end of the tubesock.

Sometimes I struggle so much just getting it over my clubhead, that I end up throwing in the bag and putting it back on when my round is finished.

Ive used the same duck (or mallard) headcover on my driver for years. I had to ditch the headcover on my cameron studio select putter because its the most obnoxious thing i have ever seen. I use the bootie headcover from my old ping anser 2 on it now.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
