Faldo said that one reason Baddeley abandoned the S&T swing was because he didn't want to hit down on the ball with the driver. Would it be fair to say that with the S&T swing the driver launch angle is decreased?

No. Nick Faldo's never said anything that's really close to accurate about S&T.; Despite, say.... http://iacas.org/f/nick_faldo_vs_snt.jpg

Congrats to Aaron. Kinda wish someone had challenged him to make it a bit more interesting.

I don't. Hands don't go in as much, gets more lifty... knee/leg work isn't the same, finish has him coming off the circle more... His swing's always had a relatively compact look.

But I didn't slow it down or watch it much today. Pens had a game in Chicago and I spent more time watching that after the eighth hole.

Faldo was somewhat dissing S&T and yet he appeared to use many of the principles himself.  Things get complicated!

I think Couples likes the 3 round tournaments on the Champions Tour, less strain on his back.   Kenny Perry mentioned back problems as well so he will probably split time between the PGA and Champions Tour.  Eiher of those 2 guys could still win probably at least 1 tournament a year if they played a full schedule on the PGA tour. I'm sure they'll both compete in the Masters and probably all the other majors as well as I would assume the Champions Tour would have off weeks the same weeks as the majors on the PGA tour.

This from today's Golf World Monday , by Dave Shedloski:

"And we might also call an end to the brief Stack-and-Tilt era in golf instruction. Baddeley returned to his original teacher Dave Lynch in 2009 and rebuilt his game. 'It felt like coming home,' he said. Former Masters champ Mike Weir is no longer a disciple, either. The method might work for the average player--and work well, because it's a simple concept that eliminates a lot of moving parts--but at the pro level the evidence suggests it's not holding up."

Utter bullshit. Baddeley won as an S&T guy too, but I guess those trophies don't count? And there's no way in hell to know what he would have done if he'd ultimately stuck to the method. Maybe I should just take the Shedloski approach and pull a prediction out of my ass?

PS: Mike Weir finished very near to dead last this weekend, so I'm not sure how mentioning him bolsters any broad leaving-S&T-is-for-the-best; argument.

Mike weir has fallen off the face of the planet after leaving S&T.; And what Badds said in his interview about S&T was total crap. Badds is just in a groove and is hitting it well, everyone on the tour has a good week or two and wins, lets just see how long it lasts.

Don't worry. The media and the other sycophants will "rediscover" S&T; when Tiger wins again. But now that I think about it Foley will generously provide the media with an out by declaring it was him and his "cells" that brought greatness to back to Tiger and therefore the Tour as a whole. So thank God S&T; is dead and Foley saved Christmas.

Man, is anyone in golf more annoying than Kevin Na?  It was such a contrast to watch the whole Team Na green reading consortium vs. the way Badds putts.  I'm also pretty sure I saw him whine on nearly every single shot, as well as calling OB left on Freddie's ball that ended up on the left side of the fairway.  That was only slightly less annoying than the shape of his head, which prior to him taking his hat off at 18 had me believing Titleist hats looked weird.  Good golfer....definitely changing the channel next time he's on TV.

A little kudos to David Feherty. He mentioned sometimes during the coverage the importance of aiming your clubface where you wanted to start the ball when shaping a shot.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
