I almost did today...a new Ford F-150. Was playing with a vendor and two clients in a local charity golf outing today. On two of the holes they were giving away vehicles. Last hole of the day for us, 181 yard Par 3. Hit a beautiful 6 iron. Balls hits about 2' right in front of the cup, take a bounce dead square into the flag stick and stops with the front edge of the ball hanging over the lip. That close to a $40k+ vehicle...instead I received $100 Best Buy gift card for closest to the pin

I won $65 in a Father's Day tournament last year, that was pretty huge to me!!!

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

A bunch of Pampered Chef stuff.  I brought it home and told my wife and kids I won it golfing...at the raffle after the round.  Kids were still impressed but wife continues to mocks me.  It had to be about $150 worth of stuff.  I may even use the cute apron when I am grilling.

At an outing in the mid 80's, I had $5 left in my pocket after seeming to be the one buying all the drinks. Raffle was $5 a ticket. decisions, decisions.... I bought the ticket and won a set of Hogan Edge Irons, 3-SW. I was pretty chuffed to say the least. After coming just out of the prizes in the scramble to a couple of groups with at least 2 scratcher's each with our group of ragtag hackers, this made the day. I didn't need money after that, everyone was buying ME the drinks!

I haven't but a company I used to work for had a guy win $10k in their tournament.   It was one of those hole in one deals.

Nice prize but the jerk stiffed us on the entry fee!

I didn't, but my dad got his first hole in one ever in a golf tourney and it just so happened to be on the win-a-car hole! He ended up taking the cash payout since they already had enough cars. I think it ended up being about $35k. Must be nice!!

I had the exact thing happen to me about 10years ago.  It was a scramble that I was playing in for my company. It was 182 yard par 3 and I hit a 4i (my distance was shorter back then) and it was a baby cut.  It actually landed on the very front of the green but took a generous bounce , rolled up to the hole with some speed, hit the stick, and came out to about 6 feet or so.  I didn't even get closest to the pin, but the hole in one would have netted me a Camaro Z28 convertible.

closest I came was 2 feet and i won an 80 dollar putter.  I've never played for many "hole in one" prizes..especially not cars lol!

I played in a 2-man scramble tournament with my dad, and the prizes were as follows.  4th place: A pair of hybrids, 3rd place: a pair of new bags, 2nd place: a pair of new drivers, and 1st place: a whole mess of Chicago Cubs merchandise... My dad and I won the tournament, but I am a Chicago White Sox fan... I couldn't believe it.  I was happy to have won, but I wasn't too excited about the prizes.

I made my first (hopefully not last) career ace in April of 2010.  I was speaking to my wife about it a few days before and I said that I hoped when and if I finally made a hole-in-one, that I was playing a casual round and that I wasn't playing in the club I belong to because I didn't want the $500+ bar tab afterwards.  At the time, I was unemployed... and even though I wasn't broke... I didn't necessarily have a couple hundred dollars laying around to spend on alcohol.

Well... as luck would have it, that following Sunday... I jarred a pitching wedge from 115 yards on the 12th hole of my second favorite course in New Jersey.  Wooohoo!  Oh, sh**!  I literally had $20 in my pocket and didn't bring any of my credit cards.

The club I play with has a closest to the pin prize for each par 3 played... but I wasn't sure how it would work since, I mean... I DID just make a hole-in-one.  Well... come to find out, I won the prize for that hole.  A whopping... ready for this... $40!!!

Luckily, it was a crappy weather day and people had left the club house.  I ended up spending about $50 on drinks... which didn't hurt me.  But, I was worried about it over the course of the remaining 6 holes!

So... yeah, largest prize I've won is $40... twice.  Once for an ace!

my dad and i won $300 total for first place in our flight in a local scramble tournament a couple of years ago (which we had to win in a sudden death three-way playoff).  my dad insisted i take $200 of it since i made about 2/3 of the shots we played, so after the tournament fee of $50, i pocketed $150.  also won a really nice callaway golf bag in a post-tournament drawing five years ago that i still use today.

1st place- team got a new pair of TW golf shoes for a Breast cancer scramble.

Thought that was pretty cool.

I got closest to the pin in a scramble. Ended up getting $200 worth of roundup transorb and other chemicals which is quite funny considering i work for a spraying contractor.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.

    • So, it appears to me that everyone is bringing out some version of the zero-torque, or square to square, or torque balanced, putter.  What ever name you want to give it seems like everyone has one of these types of things in their line up now.  It reminds me of about 10 years ago, when everyone had to have a counter-balanced putter in their line-up.  Callaway Media | Videos, Podcasts, & Episodes | Golf Content The Official source for Callaway golf clubs, golf balls and gear.
