Hi there,

I'd like to know what currently your biggest frustrations with your swing and golf in general are.

Mine is performing under pressure. I'm not a scratch golfer by any means (yet :) ) but when I walk from the practice tee to the first hole especially in a tournament I seem to leave my skills behind. Under pressure I perform things I wouldn't even consider possible and I don't mean that in a good way

So what's yours?

I'm happy to say that golf doesn't frustrate me. I'm progressing nicely and have yet to hit a 'wall' (I know I will at some point) so it's all good here at the moment.

My train of thought it was kills my game. I was always frustrated when I would be hitting the ball nice and clean, then id duff a shot or two and it would get to my head. I realized that if my head is cluttered with worrying about my game than I can't hit the ball. Once I relax, my game explodes XD

Gets a bit annoying that the only thing holding me back is my head. I guess it's better than having a bad swing or something that holds you back.

Not just playing steady through the round.  Saturday played a very hard course, was +3 on the 8th tee, not bad at all.  For some reason decided i was in a position to "go low" and stopped doing what got me there: hitting fairways and greens.  Started trying to hit too hard, went for a par 5 in two and ended up in the water, and before I knew it I was +7 on 12th tee.  Yikes.  I get greedy when I have a good score going, or, conversely, I try to "fix it" when I start poorly.

hooking the ball.

Tried everything to correct it & if I miss hit out near the toe, 100% guaranteed it will always be a hook.

Grounding the driver is my 2nd biggest aggrivation - predictably results in a 120 yard max SNAP hook OB.

Mine is just consistency.  I have my handicap mostly do to one or two "train wrecks" a round.  Usually a bad drive complicated by further bad choices, resulting in triple bogie and sometimes worse.  I make a lot of pars and even a few birdies (had two birds last round and shot 92) but just can't seem to keep my mind in the game for all 18.

i tend to slice my driver and have a slight slice with my irons. i know i have it but its annoying becuase the ball starts out dead straight and then all of a sudden dive bombs to the right.

I have to say my 3 wood and kinda my driver right now but mostly the 3 wood. off the tee i can sometimes draw it when i really try. occasionally it will go straight but for some reason if im hitting off the deck the thing just loves to slice. If i do figure it out at the range i forget or do something different by the time i get to the course. The driver i have been trying to draw and it happens sometimes but it just happens the way i want rarely on the course and if im trying to draw and i end up with a fade the miss is terrible because i had aimed at the right side of the fairway. Pretty frustrating but im working on just playing a fade and just aiming left instead of fixing it for the moment.

Some part of my body fails, like my hips start to hurt and won't slide, and there goes my game. The frustrating part is that I know what to do and can't.

Still more fun then working.

PS: My game falls apart like a train wreck. Drill techniques,  and more forgiving equipment don't help.  The chiropractor does.

The tough part(s) for me at the moment are posture and distance to the ball. One affects the other. I wasn't bent at the waist enough which was a bad thing, mechanically. It was hurting my swing but it was also hurting my back! Having a more mechanically sound stance has given me an "extra club" in distance and it's more accurate, but now I have to get my distance to the ball grooved. It's pretty frustrating to hit fat this often!

I live in a big city - getting to a course is a logistical hassle. Be thankful you can get to a golf course in 15 minutes if you aren't already.

Inconsistency, which materializes in a number of ways....

shot 84 last week, 94 this week.

par, bogie, par, par, 10!

"Shot 40 on the front.....if i can just play bogey golf on the back i'll tie my course record...." followed by double, double, triple, etc.

1. Consistency

2. Not being able to hit as long as I'd like to

3. Too many fat shots

Speaking of which, if you have any pointers please divert your attention to my swing thread.

That I'm a driving range hero. Hits everything on a string at the range, but a bit more of a loose cannon at the course.

Not being able to get all aspects of my game playing well at the same time. If I'm driving the ball great my short game goes to hell, if my chipping and my game within a 100 yards is on point, my driving goes to hell. If I could just get everything to be decent at the same time I would be in the low 80's high 70's all the time.

    • that is an excellent approach. I did that with my last set. I made a few 7 irons from different heads and shafts. Getting a feel for how they play on the course is the right idea. Let us know how it goes.
    • I’m glad the USGA booted some of the hecklers. It’s getting out of hand. I wish the networks wouldn’t mic the crowd to give those idiots a platform.
    • New member here, and I have decided to upgrade my clubs. I have been playing for a long time but these last 10 years I have had to put four kids through college. So I've played a few rounds a year and some years have not played at all. I am currently playing Titleist 716 AP2's with Rifle 6.5 steel shafts and Winn grips. I used to hit my 7 iron around 165 yds until just 5 years ago. I turned 62 this year and noticed I can barely get my 7 iron to 145 yds. I went for a fitting to try out some new player distance irons. I don't think I need game improvement irons because I'm pretty straight and rarely try to work a ball (if I'm working a ball, then I most definetely did something wrong to get there). I tried a bunch of irons (Callaway, Mizuno, PXG, Taylormade, Srixon, Ping, and Titleist) and I kept coming back to the Ping and Titleist. They just felt right and really looked good when lining up a shot. The Ping, by far, went the longest of all the irons. The Titleist was a close second in distance. Both felt buttery smooth through impact. I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with these irons. I was getting 160 yds with a nice smooth swing (81 mph swing speed). I know I'm asking a lot of my clubs but my last fitting was 27 years ago and I ended up with some Cleveland TA3's or TA2's forged irons with Dynamic Gold S300 (swing speed 87 mph). I really love the feel of my AP2's and the place I'm going to purchase from is going to make a 7 iron in both Ping and Titleist for me to test on real grass. I'm pretty certain it's going to be either one. They're both identical in price for a set of 5-PW. I'm going to forego a 4 iron and get another 4 hybrid to go along with my 3 hybrid. Any and all replies are welcome.
