to be precise.....i choose left video (more helpful left video than left picture). yes, because left video clearly show that club head as pendulum....I tried it...big improvement.... the more crazy is...i can swing and hit straight...with closed eyes (after setup)....note:.it just for fun #btw...i dont write anything before i tried it

Couple things, the golf swing isn't a pendulum and the video on the left isn't Moe Norman.

ok...thanks for confirmed that left video isn't Moe Norman.....i didn't know that... and thanks to whoever on left video to inspired me to make a pendulum effect on my swing....that makes my swing faster with effortless power. and back to the threat topic.....i never hit a slice since i switched to one plane swing as Moe inspired.

This is how this sounds to me. You are a 24. You had a slice. You think that there are "fixes" that are pretty easy to cure these things. You fixed your slice but you are still a high handicapper and now you may have put yourself into a box where you will have trouble advancing. You took the quick and easy fix instead of the long term work. Maybe you could have been a 5. But now maybe you have set the limit at being a 15 handicapper instead. Yeah, you fixed your slice faster, but what if you capped your overall development?

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

My slice comes back at the worst times. Usually when playing a hole with some kind of forced carry to get me swinging extra hard and a row of houses with lots of glass to the right.

I guess naming it is the first step towards curing it.

Swinging hard will do that to me as well.   When I do that, it usually means that my club head is lagging the swing.   On force carry situation, I have to remind myself to swing at normal speed.   OTOH, when I have to hit fade (or slice), I swing a little faster.  It usually works on a severe dog leg right hole. :-)

ok.....the story is like this: I wasnt swing for about 3 months. one day i went to golf course for small amateur tournament (tournament that just for fun and social). I was play bad......score 113....the worst from all that tournamen players....i think i dont deserve any handicap number. since that.....i said to my self: i will never play with them again until i found the swing that i never forget. i'd googling many swings...and found Moe Norman vidoe on internet. so many trial n error......i swung in my house with plactic balls almost everyday......and go to driving range one or two times a week. than now, i think i found my swing. i will go to driving range in a couples days....and make a youtube video of my swing.... ...and maybe in the end of this month... i will go to golf couse to know my score right now. actually i have very limited budget....so can't often go to driving range and especially golf course.... i hope both will become better: my financial and also my score :)

Ok, this may have been covered somewhere along the 3 years this thread has been going but I will throw in my "magical" slice cure. In HS I played with a moderate to severe slice. I played baseball through college so I think that had a lot to do with my swing. Well about '99 or so I read an article in Golf Digest (GASP!!) that gave me a swing thought. With just that a mental picture and swing thought I turned my big slice into a straight ball or slight draw. The article was more visual than anything. Laura Davies was standing at home plate of Yankees stadium with a ball tee'd up. The message was to picture hitting the ball over the RIGHT field wall to straighten your ball flight. At first it didn't make sense but I gave it a shot anyways. I mean, if my ball goes right when I don't want it to why would I want to push it farther that way. It worked wonders but at the time I didn't know why. Wasn't a serious golfer and knew nothing about swing mechanics. I still can't say I'm a serious golfer, just an addicted golfer who studies a lot and now it all makes sense. It gets you swinging from inside the ball and eliminates cutting it. Give it a shot, hope it can help someone.

Flat left wrist (righty), little to no bend in the left arm, slow take-away, weight on the ball of your feet, let your swing pull your head up, steepish feeling swing.  All of this stuff seemed to help me and if I slice a ball it's usually because I had some major breakdown in one of these areas.

Stronger grip, as in left thumb ( for a right handed golfer ) on the backside of the club ( away from target ).

This is how I fixed my slice with my driver

Until this year I couldn't hit a ball with my driver without slicing the ball into the woods. I tried everything to fix my slice, and got so frustrated that I didn't even include my driver in my bag with my other clubs. Then one day I took my driver to the driving range and did something I never did before. When I set up to hit the ball I turned the club shaft slightly to close the club face and then pointed the shaft of the club at my crotch (see picture below) instead of pointing it at my belly button as I normally use to do. Then on my down swing I keep my right elbow as close to my side as possible and swing through the ball. Now I no longer slice the ball into the woods. Some of my drives do however have a slight fade.

Give it a try. If it don't work at first, then practice using this technique for a while before giving up. The swing will initially feel different than what you may be use to, but with some practice it begins to feel normal and it very well could fix your slice as it has mine.

Now I still am able to produce a slice if I want to and it can come in handy at times, like on fairways that dog leg to the right.

More upper body rotation... I try to get my back to the target in my backswing

Same with me. I was going to say, 'I make a full backswing'.

I thought I had a pretty full backswing until an instructor physically put me in the position, it's a lot further than I had thought.  I try to turn as far as I can (I'm not terrible flexible though).

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
