I just read an interesting note in the current GolfWorld magazine. It said that on Thursday and Friday, the players will be teeing off on #1 and #9. That will make #8 the final hole for half the field each day.

The 10th hole is at some remove from the clubhouse, which must be the reason.

This is hilarious ... they always do this?  Cool.

FYI, I'm an idiot ... when the previous posters said Tiger, Mickelson, Watson, my brain kept telling me Tom.  Not until you wrote Bubba did I realize I'm a dufus.

Haha, when I first wanted to post the groupings, I wrote Watson (Bubba). But then I thought it would be obvious and deleted the first name.

Yeah they always have fun with them.

Where's the ******* pairing, that's what I wanna know. They almost always have one. They've done them a bit less lately though since they were "outed" a few years back.

I think it would be obvious to somebody who doesn't (apparently) think it's still 1990.

Now that I know this, I'm trying to find more.

Scott, Bradley, Simpson ... the 'long putter' group?

McIlroy, Donald, Westwood ... the 'God Save The Queen' group?

Cink, Immelman, Glover ... the 'fluke major winners' or 'one hit wonders' group?

This is fun!

(Side note:  When I made my prediction in the contest, I wanted to pick Branden Grace as my second but didn't see him on the contestant list.  I'm just writing this so I can brag on the off chance he wins)

Yeah. But actually I think they refer to it as the prick pairing (even though it's three people).

Alliteration makes everything sound better.

Neither did Levin.

Why was the Golf Channel going on and on about the Watson-Woods-Mickelson grouping not liking each other?  Sounded like they were suggesting 2 of the 3 had some type of a mini-feud...I'm assuming Woods and Watson?

They are just trying to generate interest, like the big Woods-Mickelson rivalry they wanted to establish, or to make people believe they hate each other. It sells better than "they are not best friends but get along just fine". It's probably because Watson criticized Tiger's swing changes as uneccessary earlier this year.

I watched the morning drive today on TGC. And Bubba called in on the phone. They talked about how he felt for the US Open. He didn't even sound confident, acknowledged that he hasn't played much since the Masters.

Then they talked about an incident last week during the memorial. Him and his wife were coming home late 11pm from some charity concert or something. And some car was following him. So they drove around for like 45 min, and then the strange car finally gave up and left. Strange he didn't even call the police to report it. But if he had the General Lee, he could have smoked em lost them quick.

In any case, I don't think Bubba even makes the cut, he's just sounds like he's just not into it right now. His focus is still his family right now.

    • Day 133: did a stack session.
    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.
    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
