OMG....Ian Poulter is the biggest, dramatic baby of all time! He was out there throwing a tantrum like a child. Isnt he a professional? Cant he play in some strong wind? I have played Kapalua a few times....it is ALWAYS windy up there. What a douchebag! Just play some golf!

Poulter is being a bit over dramatic. I know the wind is insane, but he's just being a baby at this point.

How's he going to hurt himself if the ball falls off?  Poulter earned a lot of respect from me during the Ryder Cup but he's losing it here with his whining and complaining.  He should just withdraw if he doesn't want to play.

i know these guys are the best in the world. and i know they are playing for their livelihood. but schadenfreude aside, it's it kinda fun to watch them play in less than ideal conditions.

i feel bad for Crane - that was a shitty break - but haven't we all been there? i enjoy watching the Pros toughing it out in crazy conditions, especially if there's no threat to injury (i.e. lightning).

aside from the slow pace, this is starting off to be really fun to watch. Seeing the pros struggle like I do makes me feel better. Never mind the fact the weather is crazy

Greetings ... For Everyone's Information -- Since the late 1990's, the PGA Tour policy has been that .... (1) A tournament win counts as official only if at least 54 holes are finished. (2) In cases where just 36 holes of play are finished, the win is not official, but money (as well as, presumably, Fed Ex points) is official. So There! Thanx-A-Lot and Steady as She Goes, Frank-0-Sport

Too bad they had to kick the can again....  Listening to Johnny MIller basically call Ian Poulter an actress was kinda funny.  I honestly admire Poulter.  Johnny must not suffer the same fate

I hope they can get in 54 one way or another.  They have to win to get here and benefit from the jump start in earnings.  Hope tomorrow is a better day for them.

Never heard of such a thing, three rounds in a row cancelled, crazy stuff

Quote:

Johnny Miller, the often-controversial color analyst for NBC Sports' golf coverage, commented about Poulter’s unwillingness to putt.

“You just can‘t stay over the putt that long. You've got to get in there, line it up and hit it,” Miller said initially about Poulter’s inaction. “He surely doesn’t have the Tom Watson attitude so far. He’s afraid he’s going to hurt himself, and that would probably set the game back 20 years.”

Poulter fired back on Twitter after hearing about Johnny's criticism:

“Johnny miller why don't you come interview me live and say that stuff straight to my face,” Poulter tweeted after the round. “Was you watching a different channel.”

Later in the evening, Poulter added another tweet about the commentary.

"Just watched coverage on @GolfChannel. Really sorry I took way to long on 11th.... Just trying to win a golf tournament. Trying to do my job"

Greetings ....
I hope they can get in 54 one way or another.  They have to win to get here and benefit from the jump start in earnings.  Hope tomorrow is a better day for them.
Like your words "benefit from the jump start in earnings" -- The Hyundai would be a better "jump start" for everyone if ..... (1) The event was scheduled as the calendar year's lead-off point at least a week later -- Unfortunately, the PGA Tour is presently just too long (and has been since the late 1990s) and -- thanks mainly to the WGC's Fed Ex Cup Playoffs -- not letting every event have some breathing space and the opportunity to attract the stars on a reasonably regular basis. (2) The purse was significantly better than its present below average amount of $5.70-million total and $1.14 million to the champion. It should be at least $8.0-million with a $1.44 million first prize. Also, the event should have enhanced Fed Ex Points, and the winner should get a 3-year exemption. (3) The invitational requirements were changed so that winners of a Grand Slam Major, the Players Championship, a Money/Fed Ex Title or the Hyundai T-of-C itself received three-year invites. Winners of WGC's and The Tour Championship would get two-year invites. Winners from the previous calendar year would still get their usual invites. If the T-of-C had a minimum starting field of, say, 50 players, and if it needed to fill out vacant spots, then it could reach back one calendar year more (As this is 2013, that would be 2011) and and select PGA Tour event winners from that particular year. The method of selection used could be Official World Golf Ranking Field Strength -- the winner of the highest ranked such event having first priority, and then repeating the process until the magic number of 50 is reached. Note -- I chose to go with the World Golf Ranking methods rather than Fed Ex Cup points or money because of the PGA Tour's changeover to a October-This-Year-to-September-Next-Year "wrap" schedule and some complications that would come with it. FWIW, the FedExCup Playoffs have nothing to do with the WGC.

Plan is to have the tournament start today and only play 36.  The winds aren't much better than yesterday so it should be interesting to see if they can finish 18 and have them count.   It's been fun to watch the pro's struggle with the wind but maybe some of these early tournaments should just be exhibitions and not count towards FedEx or season earnings.

Maybe they should just play closest to the pin on every hole.  I watch a bit of yesterday's coverage.  I was fun to watch the ball move on it's own.

Will play continue tomorrow?

I think Dufner has been in the lead the previous three starts as well.  He was also one of the first few groups out.

They are suppose to do 36 today and 18 tomorrow so it's an official tournament

Well. I think we know why they can't play with the ball moving on the greens.  Poulter, even though he's a douche, wouldn't shoot 126 even if he just played with his putter lol

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
