But in the end, it's not so much about being fair, I guess. I will say though that it wouldn't surprise me if the women's tees were less than 6000 total yards.

On the first hole he "outdrove" her by a mere 12 yards and she was 50 yards closer for her approach.  (The announcer said she was 70 yards past him but the yardage for their approaches was 155-105 or something like that)  So, at least on that hole, she had a 60 some odd yard advantage.  It's really not a big deal for me though.  He hit an average drive and she crushed it, and he was left with 8 iron and she was left with wedge.  If they both hit average drives or both crushed drives, then its certainly possible that they'd be coming in with the same clubs.

I only did it cuz Jet mentioned it and cuz Brandon hid his text.  As a PDT-er over here I am very used to having to be careful online (TST, facebook, etc) when watching anything that is not live.  (Americal Idol before it started to suck, Game of Thrones, BB, Walking Dead, Emmys, Grammys, etc, etc)

I just don't go online until after I've watched just to be safe.  And if I'm unable to watch it immediately, or at least that same night ... I am not hopeful to avoid finding out the results ahead of time.  It's my own fault. :)

Me neither.  From the "tournament" tees, one of the par 5s was still only 525 yards.

As far as spoilers go, I think it's a simple courtesy to give people 24 hours.  It doesn't hurt me none to do so.

How did you determine this?  Did they announce the tee yardages for that hole?

Overall, the match was pretty good. I'm glad at least it was competitive and nobody won in a dominating fashion (like one Big Break season, where the winner won 5 & 4).

I don't know, it seemed more like the players "lost" the points.  Rather than the other "won" the points.

But still, we got to see some clutch shots and putts.  18 was the big disappointment.

(Last season, the winner took the last hole with an Eagle over a birdie .  This season, the winner was the one that avoided bogie more than the other.  Positive spin would be the winner seemed to recover or scramble better.)

the best match this season was LaLa vs Brent - by FAR

The announcer (Tom ... and now I forgot his last name) actually said it.  Of course, he also said that she suprassed him by 70 yards, but that happened right as it stopped rolling so I chose to assume that was a visual estimation.  Shortly thereafter he mentioned the 12 yard difference (which was precise enough that I assume was measured) and I combined that with the screen graphics that said he was 150-ish out and she was 100-something out to estimate the difference in tees.

BTW, while I don't mind either announcer in general overall, I can definitely do without some of the asinine commentary.  We are watching on TV, and Matt hits a putt, and his response is "Ohhh, he MISSED it!"  Well, no doy!  I can see that, this isn't the radio. ;)

My wife and I love to parrot him when he says "What a misTAKE!"

He says that a lot ...

Yes!!!  And he says it with a tone implying that it was the most egregious mental error ever ... when usually it's simply a mediocre or poor shot.  It's not like it's a Chris Webber timeout or a football player running into the wrong endzone.  It's golf, sometimes people hit bad shots.  They're not "mistakes" so much as they are simply poor shots.

Exactly. It's like he's saying, "Doesn't he know it would've been better to have MADE that putt instead of missing it?!"

Just watched playing lessons on TGC. So let me get this right. Matt has a P wedge he hits 130-135 and a sand wedge he hits 105. And nothing in between. ??

Nailed it!  Glad I'm not the only one.

LOL ... that was me until about a year ago.  It's no big deal when you can choke down on the PW, take 90%, 80% etc swings and fill the gap that way.  Just a little more creativity is all thats needed, and perhaps he needs the extra fairway wood or hybrid, or whatever the heck he has in place of that gap wedge.

I think I'm going to start saying "What a misTAKE!" in a watered down British accent whenever I hit a poor shot.

So, 20 or 30 times a round. That won't get old.

I'm going to start using it to describe my playing partners' bad shots. I'm going to be reeeaaal popular.

Not that it means anything at all ... But I noticed during the finale (with about 96% certainty) that Taylor has a ten finger grip. I found that at least a little bit intriguing.

The instructor was pointing it out and suggested Matt ought to take a hybrid or long club out and add a gap wedge.  I know that one can choke down, take partial swing, etc.  But why complicate things?  Because Matt couldn't hit a target 120 away, only 135 and 105 - and the instructor called him on it, and Matt looked rather sheepish in his reply.  Just thought it was funny.  I mean he is much, much better than myself but it really surprised me that he would handicap his short game so much.

What does this mean?  Her fingers don't overlap?

Yes, also known as baseball grip, no overlap or interconnect of pinky and index.

On first drive, Taylor was only 12 yards shorter than Matt straight up so Taylor playing from ladies tees really had an advantage over Matt distance wise.  Matt did not look as good playing 18 as he did in the shorter elimination competitions.  I was a bit surprised that Matt was completely shut out of any prize money or tournament entries when the members of Taylor's team each got $5000, seems a bit unfair.
