I just called the USGA and canceled and asked for a refund on my membership to the USGA. I don't want to be a part of an organization that is being bullied by the R & A...   I think the USGA should stand up to the big bad R & A and listen to it's member's and the US PGA tour.  If everyone that was a memebr of the USGA took a stand and canceled their membership as well maybe the USGA would grow a pair...

Thanks,

Rilo

Good for you for having an opinion. However I support the R and A and USGA. Anchored clubs are not what golf is about. Why not just allow the driver with the explosive charge?

I just called and doubled my USGA membership payment for the year as a response to the USGA being the patriotic American organization they are, doing the right thing and steering golf back on the right track.  I asked if I could pay 10 years in advance but they said they didn't have the ability to track my account that far into the future.  I'm so happy they banned putting because I sucked at it.  Now it's, "Drive for show, drive for dough!"

I like that they're banning that putter. For me it's pretty much just aesthetics, I hate the way those things look.

Lol, post of the day. You just won a garbage bin full of lightly used long putters and a one-on-one putting clinic with Chance Manning.

Putting ban?  Now this is how rumors get started and misinformation is spread.  They didn't ban putting, they banned the use of an anchored stroke.

I'm sure you will be missed as a member of the USGA?  Did you send back the hat?

A putting ban, you say?  I'm glad to hear it, my scores will go down significantly now that I don't have to deal with that frustration anymore.  Kudos to the USGA and R&A; for banning one of the most frustrating aspects of the game!

When I joined the staff here, I wrote the following in my bio:
Personal Story: A life long golfer, Jamieson really got into the game after failing to make various high school sports teams. To fill the deficit, he turned to golf and has since been caught up in the endless pursuit of the low score. While in high school, Jamieson played with an all-american teammate, on a team that has won several recent state championships. A self-professed swing tinkerer, he hopes the USGA will soon do away with putting, finally allowing him to become a scratch golfer.
Judging by the title of this thread, we finally might be there!

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
