I don't remember the specifics, but I'll try and catch a replay and post it.  It was something very obvious that she made sound as if it was rocket science to figure out.

However, you can say that about every single commentary from every single player.

"I really wanted to get the ball in the hole in the least amount of strokes"

"I knew I needed to make the shot/get up and down/hit a good drive/get it close"

"it's always best to get as close to the hole as I can - that makes the next shot easier"

"it's imperative that to win, I needed to score better than the other player"

or my favorite "I have to assume (the other guy) will get up and down/make the putt.  THEREFORE, I gonna try and make the shot"

And the hosts.

"she's going to try to hit this as close as possible to the hole"
"Will needs to get inside 12 feet to stay in contention"

"the goal is to get in the hole in as few shots as possible"

face it, it's not rocket science - it's pretty pointless to even have the comments really

it's like a dozen little John Maddens talking

I'm waiting for one of them to say - "well, he didn't hit a great shot, therefore, I felt free to just whack one into the trees"

Ha! Great point. I was actually thinking last night that there was entirely too much commentary and that I'd probably rather watch it a little more like a golf tourney as opposed to the endless and often time repeated testimonials and explanations.

When watching the show, I now feel I am trying to predict what will happen next based on the comments made just before the shots.  He sounded confident - is that because they are leading me to what happened? or because the want it to be a twist when he fats it?

Some commentary helps carry the show, but the amount they have is too much.  Let's just watch them hit the shots!

it's just drills and holes - not much there to comment on really

actually - I'm enjoying the little vids where they are playing around with the NFL players.  The players seems like really decent humans - you don't get to see that kind of stuff usually.

Imagine being able to just play catch with some of those guys.

the show really isn't about the golf, it's just about the people.  I like a lot of it because it's like obstacle courses, I see a bunch of drills and stuff that I'd like to try out.  (example - our indoor range now has chalk circles around one of the holes and a standing contest from 6 defined pitch/chip locations - very fun and I'm learning from it)

Man, I've laughed out loud so many times while watching the show and hearing these comments.  Going even further, it makes me laugh sometimes when the hosts try and dramatize the action:

"OH NO, he missed the green!  Now it's imperative that the red team [wait for it] hit the green!"

Really?  It wasn't imperative before, huh? ;-)

The Big Break gets a lot of criticism, here and elsewhere. Some of it is deserved but in the end the show is popular, long running, and a money maker for the Golf Channel. It has produced a PGA winner, a Solheim Cup team member, and counts some other pretty dependable pros as former participants. Despite it's flaws it's pretty good entertainment.

I like the show, it's the commentary I can do without...I mean it's like they figure the audience is stoopid or sumpin.

The show doesn't get much criticism, but some of the golfers do.

Meghan was a train wreck in both her Big Break seasons.  You have to question her decision as a college freshman to give up her scholarship to be on BB and then go for a boob job.  Only explanation that makes sense is she knew she wasn't going to cut it as a student or a golfer and decided to bail and launch a modeling career off the Big Break.  The producers of the Big Break must have felt bad that she lost her scholarship and was kicked off after the first show so they gave her a second chance for more airtime.

Lepp has been in a free fall the last few shows so imo it was a bad decision by Ryp to let him play the par 5.  I also don't understand Lepp's choice to hit driver.  He should have hit a 3 wood and let Will self destruct from the pressure.   Will is a real nice guy but I don't see him ever making it as a pro golfer given his inconsistency.

At this point I think Doleman's team is the one to beat.  Brian and Fish are playing well and Doleman seems to be good enough to go head to head with the remaining NFL players.  Brian head to head with Squatch at the end would be a worthy finale.

Haven't seen Meghan in the Wilson calendar and obviously she's easy on the eyes and had big breasts, but they couldn't have gotten someone else who would be a better representation for golf that's also attractive?

I really thought Lepp was going to make up the extra stroke and take it to sudden death last night. That was before he blocked one into the treeline though. I just have very little confidence in Will. IMO he has no chance of making it as a pro. I'm not sure what would inspire someone to use a cross-handed grip, but he is terribly inconsistent with it. I have to give him credit for getting up and down for par last night, but I feel like he has had last place locked up as far as quality of male pros go on this season.

I really thought Lepp was going to make up the extra stroke and take it to sudden death last night.

I thought the same - he would just dominate it.

He's not had a good couple episodes (remember, these are likely just two consecutive days for filming) after such a great start and the previous season.

Last Break most recent episode -  played Will vs Brian vs James (closest to pin after two shots starting at 250 yds into some wind) and James also pretty much just didn't hit like he normally can.  Will lasered one to the green and about 15 feet from the pin, Brian hit one up the center that ended up just short.  James pushed one off to the right of the green and had to scramble - for him - a bad drive and a very mediocre chip/pitch.  James ended up losing that one too.  He had a bad couple days and that's about it.

I am listening. This topic can't be discussed enough. I like that the two hottest girls remain. They are hot for different reasons too. Mallory is a classic pretty brunette that you can picture wearing business suits. Like a hot CEO. Emily is athletic hot. The hot that you see at the ski lode after a day of skiing. She is like Ryann O'Toole hot. And Shannon looks better every time I see her. She will never get the "hot" label but she is the epitome of cute. I think she is better looking than Meghan. I am probably alone in this line of thinking.

+1.

So, they're saying there are only two shows left this season...yet three teams remain and Team Doleman doesn't have any losses.  Does that mean that Team Doleman win this without taking a loss?

Could be or a combination of the following;

  • Last episode is 2 hours
  • They combine two elimination challenges into one show.
  • Team Doleman doesn't take a loss.

I'd think the odds are Team Doleman doesn't take a loss.  The teams with a loss and playing under a lot greater pressure than Doleman, every shot counts more when you've already got one strike.

I think the final completion doesn't take into account their current standings. All three teams start from scratch.

I think the final completion doesn't take into account their current standings. All three teams start from scratch.

If not that, then my guess is Team Doleman may automatically advance to the final round by way of some other team getting a second loss this week.  The final would be a "championship round", single-elimination competition, not factoring in any prior "losses."

I'll take Mallory and you can have Emily.  Not that I would toss Emily out... but man... Mallory just does it for me.
