Just quoting these two because they say what I'd say to phan as well, but more succinctly and thus better than I'd have said it.

BTW, I once sprained a muscle in my neck turning around while backing out of my garage. My neck seized, I had tremendous pain, and my muscle twitched (my daughter was scared and started freaking out because it looked like "an animal was inside your neck trying to get out."

It was stiff and sore for a week. Sleeping was tough, and I had to resist EVERY urge I ever had to turn my neck at even a normal slow speed - I had to turn my whole body to look anywhere, especially to the right. If I moved too quickly or a bit too much, BAM - Animal Trying to Escape Mode was engaged.

Jim Furyk WDed from a playoff event a few years ago because he sprained his neck brushing his teeth, IIRC.

Uh huh. You can't offer anything close to a valid opinion on someone else's medical conditions, pain levels or threshold, etc.

Have you ever had back spasms that caused you enough pain that it brought you to your knees? I have, and I can guarantee that the last place I would have been was on a golf course. I will say it was dramatic. Great TV.

You also wouldn't play with a broken leg, and you wouldn't win a US Open on said leg. And you're not playing for PoY or the FedEx Cup either.

Yeah, because we all know a back spasm is coming and therefore plan accordingly. I always schedule my pain to be in the most convenient times possible. We've never played golf with a sore back before thinking it'd be just fine, we always err on the side of caution. Rofl, I play golf with pain and there isn't even a possible huge payday at the end of my round.

Yes, several times.  Which is why I sympathize with him and have a pretty darn good idea how he feels.  And why I'm really impressed that he could play as well as he did.

Yeah, you said that already.  What does that have to do with Tiger Woods?  Do you know FOR A FACT that he ...

A)  Has the same tolerance for pain as you?

B)  Has he same type of condition as you?

C)  Has the same need/desire to continue playing as you?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

I know this is sort of vague, but during this same exact tournament, during Saturdays round (I think), another golfer winced after a shot with back pain.  I KNOW it happened during this tournament, because I haven't watched golf in a couple weeks.  I can't for the life of me remember which golfer it was, but I distinctly remember it happening.

I only bring it up because of the assertion that other golfers don't openly show pain while playing through injury, or whatever was said earlier.  It's obviously possible that Tiger was being overly dramatic, but we have almost no way of knowing.  So to speculate on it really only points to his polarizing popularity and exposure.  Another golfer did the same thing for at least one stroke that I can remember, but nobody questions whether it was played up or not.

I played with a stiff back on Sunday. Shot about 8 shots over my handicap. I hate when that happens!!

I was wondering what that branding iron was.  I thought maybe from the Taylormade Ghost Spider line.

I actually like that style of mallet.  But that's a few $$$$.

A back spasm can hit you so hard it's like someone standing behind you, pulling you down and backwards by the neck and sticking a screwdriver in the small of your back at the same time.

That's what brings you to your knees.

You don't know it's coming and you certainly can't prepare for it.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Thanks, I was kind of surprised that wasn't picked up on by Shorty.

Not every "quote and respond" that goes on here is a disagreement situation.

I often quote to agree, and then add to the point being made. I think perhaps Shorty was doing that with your post.

I can appreciate that, it's also why I didn't respond back to Shorty directly with any attitude. I thought he had missed the intent like Golfingdad did but wasn't too worried about it overall.

I might be slow but I'm not that dense ;-)

Thought I was supporting Jeremie's obvious irony....

I know he is far more dramatic than I am when hurting. Now, THAT'S a FACT.

So because you can't push the pain no one else can either? Yeah... Your opinion is not sounding very legit. Tiger almost beat the field injured.... Amazing
