Looking forward to this in November, NSFW. So many familiar faces in the trailer, Frances McDormand is turning her Olive Kitteridge ornery realist up ten notches.

Wow....Intense!

Saw two movies, will see another next week, this Movie Pass has already paid off. It's worth the former $35/month rather than the $10/month now. Wonder what privacy I've sold away other than they knowing what movies I see. Anyway, will probably see 2 more movies in the monthly period, maybe 3 (now since all the award vying movies are being released rather than the summer box office fare), so that's $10 I paid instead of $75-80 (5 movies). Crazy. Company biz plan makes no sense.

Watched 5 movies with MoviePass - Battle of Sexes (bogey), The Square (par), Human Flow (birdie), Novitiate (birdie), Killing Sacred Deer (par) - will watch at least 2 more - 3 Billboards and Thelma. If I didn't have the pass would have probably, ahem, passed on Battle and Flow, watch it at home. although Human Flow is a better watch in a theater. Definitely watched more than normally would have. Have read folks who watch over a dozen/month get their fees increased. Eight is probably max for me, 2/week is a lot.

Bad Moms Christmas gets a par. It was about what I expected, not quite as good as the original.

Thor : Ragnarok.  Birdie.  For a comic book movie it’s pretty damn funny.  Not sure if the humor will hold up on repeated viewings, but it’s a great waste of two hours.

After three years of watching it now, I'm ready to declare Edge of Tomorrow the best action film of the last ten years. I liked Taken a lot too, but Edge has the...um...  edge? Hehe.

330 yard drive down the pipe. 230 yard five iron to ten feet. Almost lip-out, but somehow falls in... Eagle.

The final act is a bit shaky, but overall, I love this flick.

I just watched Get Out. I give it an easy eagle. I'm not really a horror fan but that movie was incredible.

Due to my inherit cheapness, I have to wait until it finally comes out on one of the movie channels in Canada.  December 9 is circled on my calendar.

I waited until it came out on HBO, so I fully understand the impulse.

A friend and I went to the late (10pm) showing of Justice League last night.   It has its flaws, for sure, but I quite enjoyed it.   Some of the CGI is sketchy in spots, and the plot is nothing new, but it was a lot of fun.  I’ll get flamed for posting this, but I really like Ben Affleck as Batman.

I think I’ll give this a missed birdie putt for a tap in par.

I'm so burned out on superhero movies....Justice League was meh.

However, Gal Gadot is incomprehensibly beautiful.

The Cinemark near runs Fathom Movie events. The past 4-5 months they been showing one Studio Ghibli movie a month. Today I got to see Howl's Moving Castle.

I've seen many of Miyazaki's movies. The first, I believe being Princess Mononoke. Though Spirited Away is probably his most acclaimed movie. Being it is the only hand draw animated movie to ever win the best animated movie Oscar. It topped Titanic as the most grossing film ever in Japan.  I get greater enjoyment watching Howl's Moving Castle over Spirited Away.

I give this movie a tap in eagle putt!

My top ten would be:

  • Spirited Away
  • Princess Mononoke
  • My Neighbor Totoro
  • Howl's Moving Castle
  • Castle in the Sky
  • Nausicaa
  • Arietty
  • From Up On Poppy Hill
  • Kiki's Delivery Service
  • Ponyo

He's currently out of retirement and making another film last I read.

They were playing in my neck of the woods too, but just couldn't make time to see any of them.

Not the same director, but still anime, but Grave of the Fireflies is devastating.

I definitely need to see of the other Miyazaki movies. I've seen 5 of the top 6 on your list there. I would say that Spirited Away is probably a better story from beginning to end. I enjoy the characters in Howl's Moving Castle much better. The music in Howl's Moving Castle is fantastic.

I haven't watched Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky or Nausicaa in years.
