To me it looks very cluttered and visually unappealing. I preferred the other website.

URLs are supposed to be permanent. Old statistics URLs do not work.

That is very disappointing.

P.S. It should be something they should fix, too. It's not that hard to build a redirect for this:

http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.361.html#2013 -> http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.361.2013.html

I don't have much hope that they'll actually fix this, however.

It's not different aesthetically from many redesigns of the sites I go to - Slate, Atlantic Wire, CSPAN, etc... Anyone getting the blank rectangle in the upper right hand corner?  Tables with numbers - they should be right-aligned. Not centered!

It is not bad, but a little to picture intense.  Some news sites are doing this as well.  They are afraid we don't like to read.

It's clear they did this so the site is scalable across all formats - desktop browser, phone, tablet.  I'm fine with it.

Official money column - right align. Sand Saves, Strokes Gained Putting also.

Found more little annoying things but that happens. Let's see in a couple of weeks how it goes. Also, no search box.

I'm afraid there may be some truth to this...I'm hoping it's just a phase

It's ok. I got used to the old site and I'll get used to this one. They have to stay ahead of the curve and can't let their site become dated.

Kinda looks like something that requires a little fixing.

Did the company contracted for the online health care exchange create this website? I kid! I kid! Personally I think they got 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag. It just appears cluttered and not very organized.

It looks like it is very Windows 8 friendly . . . I also hate Windows 8 (on non-touchscreen devices)

I'm not sure what was wrong with the old one. Then again, I still know how to do frames, so ignore me when it comes to web design. I hope the live leaderboard for medal play tournaments still works as well as the old one.

They're going to make what is a work distraction on Thursday and Friday, more of a work distraction. Productivity... splat. Here's the nuggets:

.. it was surprised to find that nearly 50 percent of its traffic was coming from mobile . It expected mobile traffic to account for less — closer to 30 percent or 40 percent — because so many golf fans tend to use the site on Thursdays and Fridays from their desk at work .

We designed the mobile first ,” Gutterman said. “We looked at, ‘How is the fan going to experience PGATour.com on mobile’ first, then desktop second.”

The tour’s official site has brought live golf to its viewers in the past through its branded coverage, “Live At,” which streams live action from a particular hole. PGATour.com has run “Live At” at anywhere from seven to 10 of its 45 events each year.

Goicouria says that number will grow to at least 15 tournaments this year.

PGATour.com also will expand its offerings at those 15 events. In addition to the featured hole, the digital team is looking at broadcasting featured pairings and player s.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't particularly like the look on mobile either. The page in the Anthony Kim thread that Erik posted earlier looks awful on my iPhone. Lots of empty space (so tons of scrolling), not a whole lot of information. http://www.pgatour.com/players/player.29718.anthony-kim.html/career

I like it. It's blocky, but loads much faster than the old site, which didn't have a mobile version. I'd rather have loads faster if it's displaying the same info as before and didn't take anything away than dense and pretty. What I noticed is like other redesigns, the search box is gone.

The old PGA Tour mobile website was useless for anything other than leaderboard watching, so I'm fine with it. I'd like the interface to be a little less image-dominant, but that's just the state of web design in 2014. The World Golf Ranking website relaunched using the same template, and that's definitely an improvement. The old site was impossible to navigate; the link space given for a player's individual page overlapped with the name above it on the list, so looking up someone's tournament history was a game of chance.

Reviews overall on the new mobile app aren't great. Some people have even said they would pay to bring the old one back! App developer's worst nightmare.

Overall I hate the formatting of the site, but I do like the new feedback mechanism powered by Disqus.  It's cool that contributors like the esteemed Rob Bolton can have direct communication of viewpoints with site users in a forum that we can all view.

    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
