Basically every golf media outlet reported that they were going to be paired together. Pretty sure it was a done deal

Okay. That would go against norms (the PGA Tour typically spaces the top draws out in the middle of the afternoon/morning waves), but for this I could imagine they'd bend the rules. Especially as Phil may have asked for it, from what I quickly read.

Tiger's pairing with Phil likely had nothing to do with his WD.

It's not something Tiger would make known to his closest confidantes, in fact it's not something he would want to acknowledge himself even.  So, notwithstanding your inside knowledge, I'll continue to believe that Phil's recent play and the thought of the whipping he'd get and the embarrassment that would be to him played some role in his late withdrawal.

Given your knowledge, it may be true that he would have withdrawn regardless of Phil's participation but I don't doubt Phil's presence at the Safeway helped nudge him in that direction.  I concede that it may not have been the overarching reason.

Hey, you know what they say about a guy without doubts. Why change now?

Stream the whole 55 minute Charlie Rose interview here and gauge his body language when he says he can surpass 18 yourself, it's around the first 10 minutes, he also admits he came back too early many times. I'm only halfway through it, it's not as much an ad for his businesses as I thought, the logo on his lapel is still fugly though. Glad to hear he's healthy, straight from the horse's mouth. Said he changed his swing 3 times since 2008.

:offtopic:Off topic - Rose's website finally got an upgrade. AFAIK, it's easier to find and play videos than before.

No doubt in my mind but obviously none of us know Tiger's mind, except maybe @colin007.

Now that is some inside knowledge I can get behind.  I must be incorrect in my assessment.;-)

I miss him like a triple bogey.

With the racist comments you made in my beautiful women thread-we all now know why too.

I hope he comes back and plays well-But it would not be the end of the world if he is done too.

Right.

The dude won a U.S. Open with a broken leg, another golfer who he's played a lot of golf with isn't going to intimidate him during the first couple rounds of the Safeway Open. And from recent reports, Tiger and Phil are the friendliest they've ever been.

It's unfortunate that he had to WD, in practice he wasn't hitting the shots he felt he needed to compete at a PGA Tour level. That's all there is to it.

Rose interview w/Phil Knight and Woods. This one is a lot more a dog and pony show, not as interesting as the one on one. And there's that fugly logo in all its glory.

Woods endorses Monster Energy. Oh, the symmetry.

More Woods news. Titleist putter, Bridgestone ball. Looks good in practice, which we've heard before.

If Bridgestone made the Nike balls, maybe they're basically just his old ball? Did Nike ever take over fully, or were they always the maker of the Nike balls?

    • The MTB Prime and Prime X had issues with the cover being too soft and getting cut too easily. They said it was more prevalent in the Prime than the Prime X which I found odd because that was the exact opposite of my experience.
    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
