Could be good. Good luck to you.

I think I'll still go if I get a practice round ticket.

Does anyone know what pctg of tix are lotteried? It's not all, correct? Seems they'd have some pctg available for members' guests, some for other bigwigs, maybe some for locals, etc. Just curious.

The Masters makes it clear that only a select few tournament day tickets  are available through the lottery. I'm guessing it's a 1 in 1000+ odds or worse. If you enter the lottery it should primarily be for the intention of getting a practice round ticket, because those are a bit more realistic.

As I've said before, I wish the tournament would find a way so that only the lottery winners and (and their guests) could use the tickets. Cut down on the scalpers and those who enter just for the hell of it, and those of us who would actually go any day of the week would have much better chances of winning. You already go through strict security as you enter the grounds, just have individual names on the tickets and check IDs as people enter. It wouldn't be a perfect system but it would help a lot.

Still waiting for my rejection....or acceptance.

They really need to find a way to prevent scalping because I'm guessing a large % of the people who enter the lottery are doing it for that reason. They have your name/information when you enter the lottery- why not sync up the ticket to your name and make each person show ID as they enter the grounds to show it's their ticket?? Yes it's not a perfect solution and some people would find ways around it, but it would cut down on a lot of the scalping.

I don't like it.  If they are fairly your tickets (you got them under the same rules as anyone else), you should have the right to do whatever you want with them.  go, give them away, sell them, burn them, fold them into paper boats, whatever....

I agree with this. Sorry, but if I can't make it and somebody is offering me $4,000+ for both of my Sunday tickets (they've gone for several thousand each in the past)... I'm most likely going to sell them without hesitation.

Exactly, and so is 99% of the country-that's why the lottery odds are so bad.  Don't promote a system where scalpers in their mother's basements are profiteering on an event they never plan to attend by putting in for the lottery just to turn around and sell the tickets on stubhub. Promote a system where only people who want to attend the event put in for tickets- I don't really understand why that is an objectionable viewpoint (at least among fellow golf fans).

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
