@iacas did you use iMovie to make your video?

Yes. I have FCP but for the quick-n-easy stuff don't bother.

One hole today of the nine I played with my son at the new course, Watertown Country Club.  He had a great time and even though we only played nine he wanted to keep going.  He played from the junior tees on this hole, playing about 146 yards or so.   Other than that I just let him tee it up from 125-150 yards.  Enjoy the humor and the fun!

My favorite line, "That is going to be a lot of raking"

The seasoned golfer minimizes the contact with the sand to alleviate the need for much raking!!!

Makes putt, proceeds to commence with the HAPPY DANCE!!! , so will you be doing that dance if you make a putt at Whispering Woods in August :-P

This may be the finest work of art I have ever created!  I said it in the video above, and the "theme for the day" is...

Enjoy! ;-)

@cipher I loved this. Seeing your son's gleeful swing, no worries, not a care in the world, just made my day. I could learn a thing or two from him about how to approach this crazy, mind-boggling game. It really is fun when you stop thinking like an adult out there. Thanks for sharing :-)

Well said. We all struggle trying to think about this game as adults. Sometimes it is just important to remember it is meant to be fun. I play so often alone in the mornings, I also often forget it is even better shared with friends/family. Can't wait to get him out there again.

When he's older, and he throws or slams his first club in anger, you should show him these videos to remind him what it's really all about. :-D

@cipher Sorry, I hope I didn't overstep my bounds there. I was speaking more about myself there. Again, I'm always thankful when I learn something important about this game and my game.

Great thought. I will do that for sure.

I hope you guys got sick of watching good golf, because I made a vlog!

I only got the front 9 because my memory card was full. Also, I forgot to bring my tripod, so the camera setup was interesting, to say the least. I apologize in advance for some bad camera work.

Oh, and my narration is really quiet, for some reason. Maybe I need to get a microphone. It's my first time making something of a real video in movie maker.

Nice play on #3 @billchao !!  Actually looks a lot like my golf, except I don't hit it that far.

Thanks! Too bad I couldn't make that putt, would have been awesome to make my first eagle while I was filming. Where's your vlog? :-)

Hope to make one soon.  Last time I played, there was a group with me.  I will get it done eventually.

Hope to make one soon.  Last time I played, there was a group with me.  I will get it done eventually.

I had fully intended on doing one on Saturday.  I bought a new memory card and charged the phones battery, and even hooked it up to the tripod and tested it out a bit Friday night.

Then after thinking about it overnight, I "chickened out" because of a few reasons.

  • We were playing a popular muni at 9am on a Saturday morning, and I didn't want to get dirty looks from other players or rangers figuring I'd be slowing things up.
  • We were only a threesome and the idea of trying to do this with a random fourth watching was not appealing.
  • We were walking and I figured I'd look like a dumbo trekking all over the place carrying a camera on a tripod.

So, I decided against it and will drag myself out somewhere early in the morning by myself to shoot.

Too bad too, cuz I played well and shot a 76 with 3 birdies.  Knocked out my second best differential, but replaced it with my new best one!  You guys would have been impressed!!

    • Huh? That's the niche of these mini-drivers. They can still work off the tee and off the fairway. They're designed for and work for both things, which is all that blurb says. You can see from the photos that it's a bit of a deeper face, which I find is more important off the tee than the fairway.
    • This statement doesn't make much sense to me.  So, I think the push and pull between a 3-wood meant for off the turf versus off the tee is how tall the face is on the 3-wood. I do not get how this mini driver would be good off the turf, or at least get the height needed to stop the ball as a normal 3-wood meant for off the ground. Maybe they care more about hitting the 3-wood off the tee versus off the turf. Nearly every strike would be low on the clubface relative to the CG location.  I would take that statement as more as marketing over what you would actually expect the club to perform.
    • No, not that Minnie Driver. This one: It's a mini driver from Titleist, available for Tour validation/testing starting this week at Kapalua. It's available in righty and lefty and is only in 13° models for now. GT280 is a direct result of Titleist’s collaboration with PGA TOUR players on the development and testing of the TSR 2W prototype, which debuted on TOUR at last year’s PLAYERS Championship. With many players seeking an additional option at the top end of their setup, Titleist tour reps and R&D engineers worked with players such as Cameron Young and Will Zalatoris to dial in a 13-degree head that worked as a go-to club off the tee and off the deck. Now on Tour: New Titleist GT280 The arrival of the 2025 PGA TOUR season this week in Maui brings with it an addition to Titleist’s breakthrough line of GT metalwoods: the new Titleist GT280.
