Just received my Callaway X2 3-wood...

(why does the box say "preowned"?)

I can't wait to try it out this weekend.

I will write up a review within the next couple of weeks.

Before I saw the pictures, it sounded like the box had an enormous "PREOWNED" label slapped ontop of it. If I had to guess, putting the website there is to advertise that they sell preowned clubs as well as new ones.

That is a sweet looking club, congrats!

When do we get to hear how that thing works?  I would be interested to hear how it stacks up against your SLDR.

Mark Crossfield has a comparison video between the sldr and bertha I think. If I remember right they were pretty darn similar. I'm in the market for a new driver if you don't like that one my good friend Matt :-P:beer:

That's nothing compare to my desk!

Messy desk is a sign of genius.  That's my excuse and I am sticking with it.  I don't care what my teachers said

Nice review!

Is it going to replace your SLDR, or function more as a reminder for the SLDR that you have options if it chooses to act up? B-)

Right now they are both in the bag, so I am pulling a Phil right now, TWO DRIVERS BABY!!!

Honestly, I think I might be gaming this Big Bertha for a while. If it keeps going well, I might actually pull the Fujikura Shaft out of my SLDR and see if I can get a Callaway Adapter for it. I still prefer a slightly heavier shaft.

Yea, I like how the Bertha driver performs. I'll have to go make an excuse to visit the golfsmith to get some numbers. Would be interesting to see the differences.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
