Well I've never heard of putting butter in coffee, but I've never heard of putting maple syrup or honey in it, either.

You coffee people are maniacs! :-D

Not a coffee connoisseur, quite the opposite. Just wanted to see what all the hubbub is about. I'm actually the opposite of a coffee snob :-). I'll drink anything with caffeine from beans.

What never put salt in coffee? Salt everything man, Salt is a taste amplifier!

I always hate it when fancy food places add salt to sweet foods. It could just be me, but I don't like mixing sweet and savory/salty/spicy. I don't like salted caramel, or melon with salt, or cayenne pepper in chocolate.

Depends on the food. I love salt on a chocolate bar. Tomatoes with salt are great a swell. For most deserts, I think salt should be added as a standard seasoning, not for salty flavor. I think a lot of homemade stuff misses a bit of salt. I also really like a bit of heat with sweet foods as well. Not necessarily Cayenne.

So good, though my favorite is kettle cooked potato chips.

Oh that sounds good. Black Pepper would have that sharp heat that would match well with a strawberry. I think that would work really well with watermelon as well.

I know most cake and cookie recipes call for a bit of salt. Maybe the lesson here is that I shouldn't generalize, and that I just have a weird hangup with salted caramel. ;-)

Don't forget that pinch of salt in oatmeal. Followed afterwards by proportionally more brown sugar.

Now that you guys mention all the different foods with salt ... I'm pretty sure as a kid I ate a lot of apple slices with salt too.

And definitely tomatoe slices with salt ... yum.

    • Yeah, negative PCC days are more likely to be counted in the best 8, but the PCC decreases the downward impact of these scores, as it increases your posted differential.  As for the conditions, it really is funny how the scores posted don't always reflect what seem like tough conditions.   Its clear that you thrive in difficult conditions.
    • I guess someone decided to do more work for little benefit then.  I might be the lucky one then. I have a +3 and a +1 on my counted scores.
    • I've only seen one positive PCC since it began, a +3 during a tournament on a tough, firm course with the wind blowing at least 30 mph. A scratch golfer got so frustrated he pulled out after 9. Sadly, the +3 did nothing for me as I was a good 10-12 strokes above the score counting. Currently 3 of my last 7 scores have a negative PCC. Of course, all 3 of those are in my best eight. I'm puzzled, as the wind was blowing pretty good on at least two of those rounds.
    • It changed to the best 8 of the last 20, in the 2020 changes.  When I attended a Handicapping Workshop in 2020, we were told that they anticipated that the PCC would apply in about 10% of the rounds.  That's about what I see now, maybe slightly more often since the algorithm was tweaked not long ago.  And remember, the PCC will adjust MOST of the scores on a given day towards the mean.  With a positive PCC (more high scores), most players scores wouldn't be in the best 8/20 even with the PCC, so the impact is nothing, although the few players who had a good day will see the impact on their HI increased.   I believe it will be very rare that a player has even two scores in their best 8 with any kind of PCC.
    • There was a PCC of +3 at Talamore the day I played in Pinehurst! Somehow that course was killing us all, lol.  If it is still the best 10 out of 20, So, it would amount to .1. It matters more if you end up with like 5 out of 10 of your counted differentials having PCC. That could equal a full stroke.  Yea, I think it will influence handicaps like 0 to let's say 2 for handicaps.
