I was actually about to type pretty much the same thing. It's like famous people getting honorary degrees.

Exactly my point. He was POTUS and is an avid golfer.

You can't really think that Limbaugh targeted Clinton because he doesn't play strictly to the rules of golf? Be honest with yourself. Every single comment he makes on his show is political. There is no way in heck he would make that comment if Bush had a similar reputation on the golf course. No fricking way and you know it.

Actually he would have. He rips Republicans quite regularly. He gets a bad rap because there are paid leftists listening to his show, pulling comments out of context then running to HuffPo for publication. In this case, I'm sure that he mentioned it mostly in jest. I used to even have a bad opinion of him until I started listening.

He rips Republicans when they aren't conservative enough for his tastes. He treats Democrats like lepers. He's an entertainer and makes a boatload of money for his shtick. Just don't take him too seriously. I've listened to him enough to know that he plays to a specific audience and they love him. The fact that he chose to bring this up about Clinton is all part of his indignant act.

The left take him very seriously. Kinda funny.

Did you even read the link?  Limbaugh's comments made no mention of politics whatsoever.  In fact, as an avid golfer himself, he talked only about the golf and the fact that Clinton is well known to cheat at golf.  Unlike you, Limbaugh questioned the award based on his knowledge of the criteria for the award.  Interestingly, the article continued and gave additional examples that supported Limbaugh's point.

The only point Limbaugh has is at the top of his head.

Seriously, you think anything Limbaugh has to say isn't dripping with his politics?

Get over it. Good choice, particularly because of what he does to help raise money for related charities.

If this can't remain about golf… we'll move the thread. Stick to the topic please. It's not really about politics.

Sorry Erik. The bottom line one again is Clinton was POTUS which makes him high profile and he has been an ambassador for the game. It's a no brainer.

What's that got to do with my post?

I'm just telling you (and everyone else) to stick more closely to the topic. It's not Rush Limbaugh's politics.

The world is not ideal, Bill is not, but if he serves a valuable purpose for the PGA and helps grow the game in a positive way ... great.

Haters will always hate ... let's look at the potential positive effects of the award.

I understand you don't like Limbaugh....no problem.  But can you tell me how you think Clinton's obvious indifference towards the game of golf, and demonstrated lack of integrity, qualifies him for this award?

Assuming of course, that you've finally familiarized yourself with the published criteria for the award.....

Didn't read any hate here so don't think that adage applies. On topic, congrats Wild Bill.

I have no idea if Clinton cheats at golf, but he's not POTUS anymore so no one has to let him get away with it.  As for the award, @Mr. Desmond He's a former President, still active in the public eye and he plays golf.  If integrity was all that important, there wouldn't be any politicians or political commentators getting the award.

I remember that a couple years ago. You're probably right. No issue with it.

Lol.  What are you, twelve?

Frankly, no President deserves any award that has integrity attached.  Give them all Warmongering Socialist of the Year awards.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
    • No! Is a large part of the human population selfish, apathetic and cuts corners in the name of self-preservation 'more than they would like to admit', yes. Degenerate, scum, etc?.. no!! Most humans/men would not grope a woman like Phil is accused of doing (I think he absolutely did). That is scum. I mean what % of men do you think would do that? Seriously??
