TST Explores GAME Golf

Recommended Posts

Just so I don't forget it would be nice to be able to PM someone you follow/is following. Commenting on rounds is really not the place to do it having the entire world seeing it. I would like to be able to invite local players to join me for a round and consider challenges etc.

The fact that these profiles show up in Google is ridiculous.

How easy are these to take off of your clubs after you put them on? And does it ruin your grips if you are constantly taking them off?

I want to buy this for use in casual/practice rounds but take them off when I play in competitive rounds.

Their site recommends not removing them because they say it'll loosen the holes. Using the device is legal in tournament play. PGA Tour guys have tagged Tour rounds. You don't have to remove the tags regardless of whether you'll be doing tagging. Unless you don't want people to see the tags, which I dunno.

Exactly.  The tags aren't going to hurt the grips, but constantly removing and re-installing them will hurt their ability to stay put.

Thanks. I'm just not sure if I might find them distracting when I play.

I would not imagine you would.  I have blue grips on my clubs right now and I never even notice the red tags while playing.

I agree. The privacy settings are not great. I think you should be able to comment on individual shots and even exclude them from stats. You could say "into the wind here!" or exclude a punched 5I from a terrible lie.

Good to know! I'll definitely offer my help.

Got a ton loaded up. Very interested to have this discussion

Editing my first round, I was really surprised this wasn't already the case. Seems like a no-brainer: have them guess but let us override it with a toggle or radio button. Resolves a bunch of issues at once and I don't see the downside.

Basically the takeaway is for them to err on the side of more labeling / sorting options via overrides that those who want to use them can have available.

Just so I'm understanding you, does it show up as 18 holes with two game lines per hole? And that you'd rather it show up as separate 9 hole rounds? Just clarifying.

I am not sure if I understand your question 100%.  Here is a link to a round like that so you can see how it posted:

What I would like is for it to show up as 18 holes with two game lines per hole.  Currently it shows as one round of holes 1-9 and then 1-9 again.  Does that clarify, I am not sure it did.

I see, so the fix you're looking for is have them not restart the numbering and go 1-18. Otherwise, the two game lines per hole are there.

Honestly, I think I'd rather they just divide it into two 9 hole rounds. This is a bit busy to look at.

It seems much easier, not to mention faster, to tap and go. I think I will stick with my GG unit and keep this app loaded as a backup in case I forget to charge it or just plain forget it.

Edit: I meant to put this in the other thread. Not sure how it ended up back here. ???

That is their current fix.  After I finish nine, I have to reboot the unit to tell it to start another nine.  Only problem would be for 18 hole challenges.  As far as being busy to look at, if they didn't use the green / yellow / red color scheme for shots, they could have just used a different color for the two lines on each hole.  It would be easier to follow then.

Anybody have a Promo Code that I can use for Game Golf?  I'm going to order just the tags and use them with the free app I installed on my Droid phone today.  Then I will compare its results with the accuracy that @CarlSpackler ing from his actual belt unit.  I hope to save big money - no not the Menards theme either.  But you know you are all singing now!!! mooohahahaha!

The app is free and doesn't require you to buy the tags.

The tags are only for the GameGolf belt unit and do not, to my knowledge, even work with the Android/iOS app. If you are using the app you just input your club selections manually just like you do with any other shot-tracking app.

The android app has a place where you can enable tags. Since it has a working NFC that isn't just for Apple Pay, we are going to try my tags with his cheap droid phone to see if it works.

Indeed it does. My mistake

My point about them not being required for the app to function still stands though. You could, in theory try out your little experiment without having to spend any $$ and if you like the results pick up the tags at a later date.

I prefer the tap n go. My phone used to die from golf goes apps on the course and now I hardly touch it during a round.

    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
    • Day 14 (15 May 24) - Worked with the SW in the backyard, short pitches from 10yds up to 30yds.   Focused on ball placement in stance - ball back, ball forward, ball center.  Afterwards moved to inside the shop to work on putting pace on the rug - putting one way gives about an 8' putt, going the other a 6' before bumping onto the adjacent rug.  Focused there on the line - picking a target point about 18"-24" out and making sure the ball rolls through that point.
    • When someone is trying to validate their choice, statements concluding with "right" are often the MO.  Too bad he thinks he has to keep defending his decision, just do like guys like DJ and HVIII - take the money, play the tourneys and keep quiet.
    • I liked Rory talking about keeping it shallow. I think a lot of people imagine steep as really steep. Trackman has a PW attack angle at 5 degrees. Pitch shots you probably want less than 5-degrees.  Here is 5 degrees, the dashed line. It isn't much at all.  People probably need to feel like the club is stupidly shallow if they hit it really steep.  Some good tidbits of information though.
    • Hey, many thanks in identifying those.
