Do those who have Game Golf use the system for each round or selectively?  Obviously if one is practicing, one would not want the practice to "contaminate" the data.  I can also see that rounds played in unusual conditions (heavy rain, cold, wind) or off season might not be recorded.

So if one has the Game Golf system and do not record most rounds played, why?

I will use it when I'm playing unless I forget the unit at home or the battery runs out mid round which it frequently does.

If I'm practicing I don't use it, but for every other round, I will.

If there's a round you don't want to use for your stats, you can select that option when you "sign" the round.  The data will be there, but it won't be included in your data analysis.  But you can look at the round and see your individual shots.

If the weather is nuts or I packed a 6-pack with me, I might exclude the round from my stats afterwards because it's not useful data, but otherwise I'm tagging every shot as best as I can. I use the phone app, not the actual device.

Has anyone had an issue where their Game Golf unit no longer vibrates when you tag a shot. I only get a series of beeps. When I plugged it in this evening, there were shots tagged. I stopped using it in the round because I thought it was done for. Based on this link, I'm guessing it is.

I haven't.

Sounds like they'll sort it out for you though.

I'm thinking about getting one of the Live versions. Does anyone know if I can bypass the need to plug the unit into a computer since it seems like it uploads directly to the iphone app? Now I just need to find a local store that will price match the amazon price.

Right. If you plan to use your phone (turn it upside down so the screen stays off), it will upload your round from the phone, basically.

You'll still likely want to edit on the computer later, as it's easier to be more precise.

It still tags shots, but doesn't vibrate, so I miss shots, etc. I've given up on it.

FYI, the unit will show a green light indicator which blinks when it receives a tag.
Also, the "vibrator" is a common motor/armature used in phones.
If you are handy and can open the device (special little bit type screwdriver required) the part is easy to repair.

My clip broke, it lost it's spring and the clip became 'floppy' and wouldn't stay on my belt.

I contacted them and they sent me a new clip which turned out to be the entire back piece of the unit.  No charge.

You should contact them just to see what they will do.

I can't hear it. I'm mostly deaf in my right ear.

That would be a negative. I was trying it today to see how it worked, and it slipped off my belt. It has done this quite a few times before, but today I couldn't find it. Se la vie.

    • The chatter in my brain is when the distance is between clubs since I am pretty weak at shortened backswings, etc. I try to simply decide if being long or short is the better outcome and choose my club based on that and simply not even try for the “real” distance.  For me a full normal swing is what I strive for.
    • I saw this comment made in a golf article... "Most golfers stand over a 4- or 5-iron still negotiating with themselves. They think about how hard to swing, whether they have the right club, if they have the aim correct and more. It’s a lot to deal with and long irons punish the “half-in” golf swing." I am not sure the "most golfers" is correct regarding the bolded part. I can understand if there is a bunker, water, and/or OB that a lot of golfers would be fixated on that. I am not sure that leads to ending up more times there. Pending your level in golf, the variance is so large in outcomes, it could be just with in the expected outcomes. I can understand if have a big lake on the right side of the hole being one of the most terrifying shots for right-handed amateur golfers.  I am not sure many golfers are standing over the ball talking to themselves, "Ok, maybe I should step back and pull the 4-iron. Am I lined up right? Oh, the wind came up, should I swing harder? What am I going to have for dinner tonight, maybe steak. (Joking, somewhat 😛)" A question is that how much chatter do you get while standing over the ball. Are you questioning the everything about your golf shot?
