I've had it! This epidemic has to stop.

This is going to be my shame file.

If you don't want to be in it, don't write things like this:

Personally, I have no desire to buy anything from TM ,

If it's what YOU think, or what YOU are going to do, the "PERSONALLY" bit is redundant, so STOP IT!!!!!!! Please!!!!

Use "personally" only if people would otherwise think that someone else did it or thought it.

Eg. The manager of the plumbing company said that he PERSONALLY repaired the pipes, whereas you'd otherwise assume it would be an employee.

Anytime I see " Going forward " it's getting a mention too. These idiotic BS "business language" atrocities have no place in normal conversation. Use that term in a meeting, let alone in a frickin' golf forum and you've lost the respect of every semi-literate person around. There is nothing wrong with "from now on" or "in the future".

Going forward, I, personally, am compiling a list. I won't name names.

Shame me if you like for being a jerk or for any other reason, but FFS, it's out of control.

Speaking of obnoxious business buzz words, can we add "utilize" to this thread? Just use the word "use."

"Utilize" means to use something in a way you wouldn't normally use it. Such as, "lol, I utilized my screw driver to pick my nose just now lol."

Otherwise, if you're just trying to sound smarter by replacing the word "use," you sound like you're trying too hard.

Sadly, no one actually uses it the correct way, so I'm pretty sure the English language has been irreparably bastardized at this point.

In the end though, I guess don't really care. Just throwing this out there. And keep in mind that I was chuckling to myself as I wrote this, so no, I'm not this much of a sticker, even though I don't think ill of people who get bothered by poor language skills.

To be honest, Shorty, I will say that I don't see "going forward" as that bad, but I'll try to refrain from using it in the future ... not that I ever used that phrase myself, but I'll make an effort not to.

PS- You forgot to mention your disdain for people who begin a thread with, "So..."

Much like "Literally" it is overused and misused. It's word salad croutons, used to fill dead space with noise. Someone said to me once, "He literally swept me off my feet!" I said, with what, a broom? He metaphorically swept you off your feet.

"Couldn't care less" is correct........what is annoying are those that say that they " could care less", which clearly says that they do care at a certain level.

I think "actually" is overused, as in "Actually, I could care less....."

Eh, go ahead and add me to this list now. Having taken many business classes, owning a few businesses and working with customers for all of my professional life, it's second nature to include the word personally in my sentences as a disclaimer that stands out.

Example:  I would not recommend that you purchase that item.
Example: I, personally, would not recommend that you purchase that item.

However, @Shorty , make sure that you add yourself to your own list for doing stuff like this:

Clearly, those two sentences don't require a return between them. You can't be a partial grammar-Nazi. You have to commit 100%.

Semi off-topic but when I was studying Computer Science, I had a class where on the first day, the teacher (an adjunct) gave us a writing test (prose, not software).  The second day of class, she came in and explained:

Nails on a chalkboard individually to me; to hear them both in the same sentence would have sent me over the edge. "Could care less" annoys me to no end as well. And, I have a boss who repeatedly says "irregardless." I mean, seriously?? No one has told this late 40-something, otherwise very intelligent chick, that is not a flippin word??? FFS!!! (That one is new to me too but I dig it).
