That's kinda like how, in the South, we say, "Bless your heart."

Translation: "I'm sorry you're so stupid."

And I thought I was being consoled all this time. :-(

Oh yeah, you know what just burns me?!?!  When people replace the words "tip" or "advice" with the work "hack" these days.  Argh, that's annoying!!!

Using the term "bandwidth" in place of capacity, ability, manpower, etc.

As in..."We as a department couldn't possibly take that on, we don't have the bandwidth!"

Amen.  Stopped my wife (she works in consulting, occasionally says "going forward," "ping," and a few others that are annoying but tolerable) mid sentence to yell at her for this a week or two ago.

I basically said "what the **** did you just say?!?!"

But it's better than everything that's called a "weird trick."

Or "unpack this" instead of "explain/discuss this."

Almost as bad as "Let me unpack that for you."

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I'm going to thank my lucky stars (and knock on wood) because I haven't heard this one yet. :)

Should've told her to speak to her internet provider. Up that bandwidth.

If she ever offers to "unpack" something for you, you should offer to push her stool in. :w00t:

There are also the people who say ironic when they mean coincidental. I don't know if that has been mentioned yet, but it bugs the shit outta me.

I hate "socialize". People use to like this: "I like your idea but we need to socialize it". Rarely are the discussions anything but social. Funny story. Few years ago we had my mother come in for Christmas, so my wife and in-laws played "buzzword bingo" with her because she used to rant and ramble about a number of topics. All 4 days my mother-in-law was saying weird crap to her to try and get her to say some of her phrases. She eventually won because my mother really, really is nutso.

How about those that use "Yada, yada, yada"

Don't know. Let's proactively dialogue about it to set expectations.

I actually don't mind this. Maybe because I think the word is funny. • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
