http://gamegolf.com/round/252912 Only got nine in today but it was one of my better rounds so far. Two three putts. The round could have easily been much better.

Played better. I had one bad hole because of a lost ball. Damn ball got eaten up by very soft ground. If you walked around it was slosh slosh slosh. No golf ball to be found in the middle of some light tree area.

Swing is feeling better. Putting still sucks. I missed a few inside 5 feet. The short game isn't nearly sharp enough.

Shot my lowest 9 ever - 44 on at a 32.4/105 course!

Much better round today, moderate winds, tough greens (very hard and bouncy, hardly any grass).

76 on a short and easy course. I was hitting it great off the tee but there were so many dead patches in the fairways I never really got a good lie. Game Golf also went a little wonky on me with some of the tags, kind of strange because I would think it would track better on my walking rounds.

Real windy out there today.  Hit my 5 and 6 irons well.  Hit my mid and short irons well.  My driver and woods were atrociously bad and my putting was not the best but not the worst.

All that said, two balls lost on a windy day isn't the worst thing in the world.

Played a round with the local pro on the number 2 course in Europe. Scored a 93 from the back tees, was pretty happy with it (was in the buffer for my handicap). Greens were a bit bumpy, but very fast, and some wind (longest vs shortest drive was >50m). The course is simply amazing.

Hit the driver great all day but was thinning my approaches all over the front nine, stumbling out with 44. But I battled through and made the adjustment on the back nine for an even par 36. Actually had a chance to break 80 but my approach on 17 clipped a lone branch costing me a bogey.

Had about a 30 MPH wind out of the SSW or so. Wet fairways. That's why I hit 220-yard 6-irons and 151-yard 7-irons. :)

But hey, it was 75° or so! And I took advantage of the soft conditions a few times in the short game to par eight holes (we passed a group and skipped the fifth). Front nine, blue tees, Whispering Woods Golf Club. LCP.

Just absolutely horrible.

Driver: B-

Irons: F (No greens in regulation, 4 nGIR)

Short game: Dr. Jekyl / Mr. Hyde, 50% scrambling. I took an extra 8-10 strokes playing ping pong across the green. Just out right bladed 7-8 short pitch shots. Just couldn't turn at all and flipped the crap out of the club.

Putting: B+, actually putted really really well tonight. Made some clutch 5-10 foot putts. I was pretty solid on short putts for once.

Just a very strange round. I might blame my short game on my left leg. My IT Band on the side of my leg tightened up a lot and it was pretty painful tonight. Maybe I couldn't make a basic pivot on short shots.

Besides that my irons sucked. Just not solid at all on half and quarter wedge shots. I fatted a PW on a par 3. I hooked a 7 iron on a par 5. I thinned a 52 degree wedge. hooked a 9 iron trying to hit one easy into the wind.

Just ugly.

I like the grading system of oneself that you did, @saevel25 , so I'll do it, too.

Teeshots = F: Whether with the driver or 3W, I hooked everything.  Driver was a distance low of 176 yards to distance high of 268.  Lot of low line drives.  I'm not lifting the ball up at all.  Hit 3W off the tee once and hooked that, too.  Two penalty strokes off the tee just bad bad bad.

Approach shots = A- : Irons were pretty much on all day.  Good distance control, was making solid contact, and didn't duff any shots.  It was a bit windy out there but I adjusted to it.  My misses were to right.

Short game = D: The only positive here was chipping in for par on the 1st hole.  Otherwise, I had two duffs and hit one way to the right that might have hit the hosel.  Didn't feel confident at all.

Putting = C-: Didn't miss any putts within 3 feet which is good.  1.67 putts per hole,  Didn't make anything spectacular.  Had two 3 putts and three 1 putts.

Positives: Had my first birdie of the year and as I mentioned, chipped in for par on the 1st hole (first time I've done that).

Negatives: Tee shots and short game turned what could have been a good round into an atrocious one.

One of my favorite courses in SoCal, The Palms Golf Club. Love the desert, ball goes farther ;-)

Was definitely feeling it today, a quick nine holes after work and I nearly hit every green. First time I broke par at this course, it is a real doozy from the back tees 75.0/139 rating

Wasn't too bad of a round.  The course was in bad shape after being trampled by tourists and snowbirds for the past 6 months.  My brother came down from Pittsburgh and we got my son to join us, so it was very cool!

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
