Rainy day of golf. I seriously topped 7-8 shots only to stick it inside 20 feet on the next attempt. Twice from 240. Killed my scrambling percentage but manage to score well because none of the topped shots led to double bogeys amazingly enough. The swing work is really paying off because the shots that I did hit well felt really good. Hit a couple of big drives on wet fairways. Very positive round.

Well, took the free gg app for a spin. Utterly horrified by my score and putting but only like my 5th or 6th full round of the year. Went around once to warm up and this was my 2nd 18. I think it's pretty obvious I was getting worn out by the end. I could not get the speed of these greens down for the life of me.

A beautiful day for golf!  Had a couple of blow-up holes and made some questionable decisions that cost me some strokes.  C'est la vie!  Back at it this week!

http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Savvyswede/round/353733 Sprayed the with the driver a bit but scored well. Taking advantage of the par 5s really offset some of the bogeys I was making.

I'll take 98 for the first time out on this course. Lots of hills and wind. Didn't finish the 14th hole (hit OB right off the tee, then hooked the re-tee and never found the ball) so I just made up a reasonable looking result for my ESC 8.

No bladed pitches, which is a plus. Even hit a bunker shot to tap-in distance. Putting was the usual garbage. Kept hitting my partial wedges long. I felt I could have done better, but I'm okay with what I did well.

Wish you didn't live clear across the country, I think you and I are pretty close to the same level of golf and would be able to help each other improve.

*edit I guess NJ isn't really "clear across the country" but still way too far to actually golf together rofl*

Well even if we couldn't, at least we'd have fun

Those other guys don't know how much of the golf course they're all missing out on :-D

First time playing this course.  Could have done better but wasn't ready to go when we teed off (owning to teeing off 10 minutes earlier than our tee time because we were grouped with another twosome) and my short game and putting sucking.

Second time playing this course and shot my best round ever.  My short game and putting still sucks.

Here's my round from the Sunday outing.

Tee-to-green was one of my best rounds to date, especially considering that this is a VERY narrow course.  A couple of sprayed driver tee shots, but fewer than usual, and the rest of the tee shots were good.  Irons were great.  I had a couple of shots that were slightly chunky - and I mean slightly.  Otherwise, I had many solid shots.  Recovery shots were great too.  Picked the perfect club to get over the trees but as far down the fairways as possible on 6 and 18.  On #5, I had to hit a 115 yard shot about 8' off the ground (6 iron) under a tree to a green with water all around the back.

Some difficult greens, and a shitty putting day, combined with playing a course for the first time that really requires some knowledge is what lead to the poor score.  But I'm mostly very encouraged by how it hit it.

Side note:  Pretty pleased with the Snells after one round.  Will be using them again on Thursday. :)

Shitty putting day, longest putt I made was a gimmie ;-) No birdies, lots of pars, hit the driver well.

Super up and down day score wise. I should have known better than to play in close to 20 mph winds but damnit I wanted to play some golf. I was never really comfortable over any shot because I'm not good at judging what the wind will do to the shot. Putting was a little better than last round at least. Also ended up having to wait a lot by the 8th hole on the front which always causes me problems. Either way, a bad day at the course is better than a day at work.

GAME GOLF - Jeremie Boop - Round

Started off pretty bad, had a few hiccups throughout. Haven't played this course in a long time and wasn't sure where the trouble was so that bit me in the butt a few times. Overall, still improving.

Dinked it around like a goober.  Ballstriking was horrible.  Hit a bunch into the weeds and was lucky to find the ball.  Three of my worst drives of the day were on 8*, 9 and 10 but because I was fortunate enough to find it and make a putt**, I played those three in -1.

*The drive on 8 was so bad that I bypassed all of the muck and I was dead center of the 5th fairway with no trees in my way (just a blind shot over a mound and an "old school" guess on distance)

**Come to think of it, each of those 3 made putts was around 20' long.  I was so down on my overall game that I didn't even really get excited about that (until now :-) ).  Also, on 11 I missed a 30-35 footer by about 6".

We'll get 'em next time.

Caught a cold from a co-worker this week and wasn't feeling so hot but committed to playing with a friend yesterday.  Not surprised by my score.

Of course, that probably had very little to do with my great putting.  Not everyone can say they 3 putt four holes in a row and in the same round also have a 4 putt.

Played a round with Erik & George today at Bent Tree in Sunbury, Ohio. Chilly, on and off light rain, course played long.

Up and down round today. From Hole 8 to 18 I played the course in 6 over par. That was with a triple on a par 3 that I didn't finish, but my most likely score probably would have been a +3.

    • Ok, that makes sense. I was trying to wrap my head around that concept when I was writing my post.
    • 78 today at Minnesott (36 front / 42 back) - a new first with an even par on the front.  A big day of up and downs for par.  Only 26 putts against 4 GIR and 5 nGIR.  Was a CPO (cart path only) day due to recent rains.  Overall game was on - until 18 where I was looking at having a first “no-sixes” and made a triple 7 (tee shot in the lake, 2nd tee in fairway, shot 4 approach to right of green pin high, shot 5 bogie on the green, long two putts for triple 7.  Still a solid round and new personal best.
    • I believe that 76 bpms is the tour average (or somewhere around that). I think that's from taking it back to impact. I'm not 100% sure of exactly how it works since a typical pendulum is already moving when it starts going back. The putter on the throughswing ideally would work pretty much exactly like a pendulum though. To get the exact same time period from starting the putter back to impact, you'll have to accelerate it a lot faster on a longer putt right at the beginning until it gets to the speed it needs to be to make the putter move the right distance. Probably all way too much to think about while actually hitting a putt, but bottom line is I agree entirely that a metronome is a good thing to use if you're working on your putting tempo. As to the split between backstroke and downstroke, the tour tempo lot said 2:1 is the ideal. 3:1 for full swing. 2:1 for short game and putting. Whenever I go on a SAM I am about 1.7:1 I think and I can't for the life of me get my backstroke to be slow enough to get it to 2:1. Ho hum. Last comment - if you do have a perfect pendulum putting stroke and you have the ball slightly forward of the center of your stance, then the putter should be just starting to rise again at impact and with the way that pendulum motion works, it should be very slightly decelerating at impact, which I believe someone may have suggested once 😛
    • Was going to chime in on Erik’s videos - they were and are solid teaching on better putting.
    • I'm a big fan of the metronome. I forget what my actual numbers were, but something like 0.59 seconds: my backswings, regardless of the length of the putt, is 0.59 seconds (or 0.72 or whatever the actual number was). The period of a pendulum is determined by the length of the pendulum. So, to hit a putt harder, you take it back farther… in the same amount of time. So you have to swing it faster, and thus, it comes through faster. The putter head has to travel faster to travel farther in the same amount of time. Everyone tends to have a "beat" that they like. For some it's slower, and they have to make bigger backswings to make a putt go the same distance as someone like Brandt Snedeker. It also has a metronome IIRC. 😄
