Shot 86 today and broke my par record, with nine pars. I was making solid contact with my irons all day, which felt great.

Everything felt good, really. I flubbed a few chips and caught a bad, downhill-idiot-footprint-in-the-unraked-sand lie on one hole, but did a good job of getting close to the green in regulation throughout the round.

* to give credit to the crew at my local course, they've done an excellent job on the whole process. No doubt the greens will be spectacular this summer.

My round from a tournament I played in on Saturday. Shot 76. Won skins on the birdie and eagle holes.

Very hilly and tight course. Never played it before.

Driving - B-

Irons - C+

Putting - B+

Short game - B-

Not bad overall. Would like to have a few swings back which is usually the case when it is the first time playing an unfamiliar course.

Had trouble with some extreme downhill lies. Hit them thin. Have to try and find a spot to work on those.

Putting distance control was very good for me that day. Missed a few from inside 12 feet that left a bad taste.

Amazing how my sand play improves when there is actually sand in the bunkers!

36 from the back tees at Whispering Woods. Figured out a thing that was bugging me from the weekend round with @Hardspoon.

I decided to drop back to the back tees at the club today to prepare for a tournament on Tuesday where we'll be playing from further back than I'm used to.  The back tees (Blue - 72.2 / 134) at my course are just over 6600 yards... which is nearly 500 yards more than the tees I typically play (White - 69.8 / 129).

I jumped onto the first tee right out of the car.  I hadn't touched a club since Sunday... and it showed.  I opened quad - bogey - triple before settling into a pattern of bogies with some pars mixed in.  Things on the back were much better... but I ended with an ugly triple.

Course was wet, which was a bit of a surprise since it's up in the mountains and usually drains well. Goes to show just how much rain we had recently.

Spent the first 7 holes or so just straight up hacking it around. I'm not practicing enough or properly or something because I keep forgetting a swing feel until midway through my rounds.

Beautiful (and hot!) Florida sunshine, four rounds of golf, and $20 buck on skins. Great weekend!

Highlights were, first and foremost, the 39 on the front nine this morning (a personal best), and the amazing par, birdie, par finish to the day.

Played in a 2-day Golf Channel Am Tour Major while I was down in Orlando (won my handicap flight).  Shot 86-86 both days, which I'm pretty happy with given how windy and hot it was all weekend.

I wasn't going to play today, but I'm glad I did...I feel somewhat back to normal after an absolutely TERRIBLE round last weekend.

My putting was awful today...mostly because of short misses pushed or pulled...

This is from my tournament round on Saturday.

Shot 74 came in second by one. 2 birdies, 4 bogeys.

Putting C+

33 putts. 2 three putts both were longer putts that I had two tiers to navigate. Both came up short.

Driving B+

Drove it pretty well. One bad drive on #2. Over hooked it into the left rough, cost me bogey.

Irons B-

Hit 13 greens and had 15 ngir. Just wasn’t hitting them crisply. Still not rotating open enough.

Short game B+

3/5 on up and downs.

My first tournament of the year was last Thursday (June 1).  However, game golf had the wrong green recorded for a hole, so they had to fix that before I could sign.  They fixed it quickly, I just didn't get around to logging back in to verify it.

After that round, I hope my summer golf can only improve from here!  http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Shindig/round/1623258

Why does everybody on here use GAME golf and not Arccos?

Perhaps because many felt it was the better option.

74 at Downing today: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/1633325 . Hit some goofy shots, like a topped 3W on the first hole, but made par on 16 of the holes. :-P

But why?  Doesn't Arccos do everything Game golf does without having to push a button?  Maybe because you can't post your arccos rounds? Or can you?  I just haven't seen any on here so I'm curios.

And there @iacas!!!  You happy now?!

There were several tradeoffs. This isn't the topic for them, but basically:

  • Arccos used your phone. And only an iPhone for years at first. Some didn't want to carry their phone around.
  • Arccos tags could change the swing weight of your club. They were larger, heavier.
  • Arccos was problematic with putting.
  • Arccos was double the price of the GAME GOLF.

That's a short list. There were other reasons.

Now, back to the original topic/purpose.

I just stopped caring after the 8th hole today.

http://www.gamegolf.com/player/saevel25/round/1637772

I actually thought I would have a good round. The first two holes were actually pretty good. It just fell apart from there.

Hole 3: Sliced a 3-wood, hit a 4-iron into a tree, had to hit a PW back into play, fatted a distance wedge, pitched on and two putted

Hole 4: Sliced toed a 5 iron, pitched on and three putted

Hole 5: Straight sliced a driver, had to chip out and nicked a branch. The ball was way below my feet and hit a strange shank-ish shot (wasn't a shank).  Fatted a distance wedge.  Hit a distance wedge over the green, pitched on and two putted.

Hole 6: Toe hooked a ball into a side slope. Ball was way below my feet, I pulled my 7 iron into a tree and the ball ricocheted OB Left. Hit the same 7 iron down the gap to about 70 yards from the green. Pitched on and two putted.

Hole 7: Crushed an 8-iron over the green, pitched on and two putted.

Hole 8: Topped a hybrid. Topped a 7-iron. Crushed a 7-iron over the green. Lost a ball and didn't play the hole out. I just threw in some shots and called it a day.

Played Boulder Creek (OH) with @saevel25.

http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Hardspoon/round/1638563

I putted 43 times.  If you gave a half-drunk 12-year-old a hockey stick and a tennis ball, they would putt better than I did today.

I did drive the ball well (for me), and I played the last two holes well, so at least I left on a high note.
