Thank goodness.

Any predictions for the first round? Here's mine.

Ottawa @ Montreal: Montreal in 6.

Detroit @ Tampa: Tampa in 7.

Pittsburgh @ NYR: NYR in 4.

NYI @ Washington: NYI in 6.

Minnesota @ St. Louis: Minnesota in 6.

Chicago @ Nashville: Chicago in 5.

Winnipeg @ Anaheim: Winnipeg in 7.

Calgary @ Vancouver: Calgary in 6.

I feel like the West is pretty wide open.

Yeah, as a Rangers fan, I enjoyed Boston not making it.

My predictions:

Ottawa @ Montreal: Ottawa in 7.
Detroit @ Tampa: Tampa in 7.
Pittsburgh @ NYR: NYR in 5.
NYI @ Washington: NYI in 7.
Minnesota @ St. Louis: Minnesota in 7.
Chicago @ Nashville: Chicago in 6.
Winnipeg @ Anaheim: Anaheim in 5.
Calgary @ Vancouver: Calgary in 6.

I see a lot of long series' and no sweeps.

The Pacific looks like the Old Smythe... I'd like to see a Jets/Flames division final, but we'll probably end up playing Anaheim... I think Calgary can make the WCF, but depending on whom we play in the WCF we could make the SCF... it'll be the first national exposure for Calgary of the entire season (at least in the US)

No love for the B-ruins, but I'd rather have had them than the bloody Sens. It just seems like goofy things happen with Ottawa. Still believing the Habs pull it out.

Could you imagine an old time NYR-NYI matchup. That would be a fitting way to see Nassau Coliseum out.

That would be a great Patrick Final Rangers-Islanders... Probably gonna be something like Rangers-Wild in the cup final because you almost always get a surprise finalist

I'm not sure I could handle a NYR-NYI match-up, haha.

My picks for the opening round of the playoffs: Montreal over Ottawa in five. Silly Senators, there's only room for one Cinderalla story in the playoffs each year, and this year Calgary has claimed it Tampa beats Detroit in seven. Detroits vets will make this a long series, but their goaltending is suspect. NYR loses to Pittsburgh in six. Just because I'm clueless. Washington is eliminated by NYI in seven. The Islanders keep getting better. To me, this will be the closest series in the east. Both teams are desperate to go past the first round. St.Louis beats Minnesota in seven. I can remember when Dubnyk couldn't stop a beachball. He's obviously better with a real defence in front of him. But St.Louis has to go all the way one of these years, right? I think Tarasenko is going to be the difference if he's healthy. Nashville jobs to Chicago in four. Both teams seem kind of tired, but Chicago is better, right? Anaheim is upset by Winnipeg in six. Please steal Calgarys thunder, Jets. Your fans deserve this as much as the team does. Vancouver loses to Calgary in seven. Calgary is hot, and Ryan Miller hasn't been very impressive for the 'Nucks. I personally hope that both teams beat each other senseless in the opening round. I'm really good at picking the wrong teams in the playoff match ups.

I'm pulling for The Rangers or Habs in the east.  I know that sounds odd for a Bruins fan but I just can't wrap my head around hockey teams in Florida!  Both have played well.

Who are you pulling for in the Campbell (West)?

So I'm not the only one, pulling for a Winnipeg-Calgary division final? I found out that the media is only allowed to refer to the First and Second Rounds of the Playoffs as those terms, this year... Next year the first two rounds must be called by their proper name... Division Semifinals and Division Finals, transitional year on the labelling of rounds

Someone new or one that hasn't won in a while.  We don't see them as much, so I don't have an opinion.

It's ok to dream but, That is not going to happen.

The Flames lived up to their Cinderella title on Wednesday night... I am sure if Calgary makes a very deep run... Jonas Hiller will be considered maybe the greatest goaltender acquisition by Calgary since Miikka Kipursoff... it's scary the comparison to the Miracle Flames of 04 and the 15 team, the only difference is the only "star" Calgary really has is Hudler, though Monahan and Gaudreau are definitely rising stars

It's with great shame that I announce that my hockey team has yet another first overall pick in this years draft lottery. I can't even get that excited for Connor McDavid, no matter if he's the second coming of Wayne Gretzky. That's four number one picks in the last six years. Know what the team has accomplished with three of the last five? 28th:-(

Yeah, 4 number 1 picks in the last 6 years is just asinine. It's truly embarrassing that the oil are not better than half the teams in the NHL.

Not only not better than half, but third worst. It's not like they were going to be picking #13 or #14.

I have friends on the Sabres. I was rooting for them… I've seen Connor play several games.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
