Now it is. :-) Just in time to watch woods flub that pitch.

Bad break for Tiger. After making his first birdie of the day, he stiffed a 6 iron on his second shot on a short par 5, but it rolled back and went 30 feet off the green. He obviously needs to get back to work on the short game because he ended up lucky to make 6. At least the full swing was there.

Rusty for sure. Considering where the leaders are at his 77 is pretty ugly.

I'm not going to judge Tiger on one tourney. I'm thinking it's gonna take a little time for him to get back in the groove, maybe 3 or 4 tournaments..?

I think Tiger has a glaring weakness

Use the bounce, Tiger! He wouldn't have it happen near as bad that way, even if the club did end up catching on something.

I dunno if it's rust. Strick had the same layoff Tiger had and probably hasn't hit anywhere near the balls Tiger has since Aug. I'm really beginning to think he's become an average player out there. It's probably premature but I don't think he has the mental strength he once did and definitely doesn't have the same physical gifts. He's an old 39. Tough to watch.

Chunks. I don't think I have ever seen him make four shots like in any round of golf. Not ever. Those four shots looked what you'd see at your typical muni.

Spot on, Gunther. The part about Strick also being off from competitive golf, but not having four of the worst chunks a tour player could possibly hit in one single round.

well considering he plays 16 tourneys per year, I think you are now referring to Augusta.  I did a quick look going back the last 5 years he is averaging 18 tourneys per year both here and abroad. of course the fedex cup takes up 4 of those.

My only positive takeaway, I loved the rip he took with the driver on 18.

It was his short game that let him down, right? Have you read LSW? ;-) It won't take much to get his touch back.

I though he hit some great "full swing" shots, on the back 9 in particular.

That's why I put the "probably premature" in there. ;) Honestly though, Tiger is done. He'll win a few more tourneys, no majors. 14 will be his number into perpetuity.

    • No rain while I was out (9am to 11:30am). Fairly pleasant for a late November day in the Mitten.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
