Anyone making any?  I dropped the 3W for a 4W, dropped the 60* wedge and a few lower lofted hybrids.  This was my first year playing and I learned a thing or two about what works for me and what doesn't.  I pulled 4 clubs total that I "wanted" to work for me, but honest reflection reminded me that they usually added strokes to my round.  Finally, I am going to try the Bridgestone E6 ball next season.  How about you all?

New ball, putter, and an actual wedge combo. Going from only PW,gw and sw to adding a matching lob and sw. Always new grips and shoes before new season. Maybe another hybrid of the 20 degree variety. The hybrid is doubtful since I don't like to carry all 14 allowed clubs. Driver, 5 wood, 23 hybrid, 7-gw sw and putter. Adding LW. So 11 clubs maybe 12 if I find another hybrid I like.

Hopefully I can get myself and Edel putter.  Im happy with the rest of my clubs and after seeing Nate's I want one :-D .  I also just bought a game golf I won't be able to use until spring but I don't know if that counts as an equipment change I guess it would be more of an addition.

Swapping out my 54.12 wedge for a 54.08 or 54.06. (Cleveland RTX 588) I didn't understand bounce when I got this club last year and now I know that I am a low bounce guy. I have a shallow swing and play in the NorthEast where we usually have firm conditions. Even in the bunker, I can get out with my 58.08 wedge. I don't use the typical splash technique, I just hit a normal pitch shot with my feet dug in and it seems to work. The low bounce wedge is a definite change (hopefully my dad follows xmas gift request properly) but I also am going to probably change my 3 Wood. I really like my 18* Baffler 5W and thought the 16* 3W would be good. I hit the 5W further off the deck and the 3W has a VERY shallow face so my tee shots tend to pop up. I realize that I'll only use a 3W off the tee so I want one with a deep face. I like my Covert driver but the 3W seems to also have a shallow face. I might try the RBZ. It's going for about 40 bucks on Global Golf.

At 64 years old I still play steel shafts on my irons and fairway woods, so I guess at some point I might switch to graphite.

I am trying to decide which irons to go with.

I had my Callaway X20 Tour s reshafted in May, going from PX 5.0 Rifle Flighted (115 grams, R+, FMC = 5.5) to NS Pro 8950 GH (97 grams, R, FMC = 5.0). I gained about 10 yards per club, with more consistent distance, and got my first hole-in-one a month after reshaft (canned a 6i).

About the same time, mvmac selected Saevel25 and me to review the new TM SLDR irons with the C.Taper Lite 90 shafts. I hit these pretty well, and I like the set's PW and AW too.

I may get on the launch monitor this winter and see which set actually has the best performance figures.

I am probably going to overhaul my entire set need something more forgiving in the irons department, thinking about Tour Edge Hot Launch irons and woods so I don't break the bank, but I may just end up getting an XCG5, or XRail driver and 4-wood... need a little upgrade in technology, might stick with the V-blade and CNC Forged rotation, I might attempt to get the CNC's re-shafted with Project X flighted 6.0... I don't make a lot of money, but maybe when I get my taxes back... I definitely fully and truly need a new bag (or two), I'm thinking about getting the Ogio Grom with the Diamond club organization system or either the Sun Mountain Hybrid or four-5... don't know yet... Finally I need a new set of wedges, bad really bad, looking at the Tour Edge tour proto line or Xtreme Spin...

I would like to get a new walking bag and maybe shoes.

I plan to have several clubs regripped. There are a couple of vintage clubs I would like to add, but probably won't unless one slaps me in the face.

I have set of Macgregor 91-93 VIP remakes that I want to get gripped, and will possibly start the season with.

Kinda weird post.   Vague on the club selections yet so specific on the ball choice?    Just saying.

Likely the poster would call you a poseur . It's an insult French people throw at you.

I'm trying to not make this an "off season," hoping to play at least once per month in Dec/Jan/Feb but also not willing to play in the rain or below 40 degrees so might be a challenge.

New shoes for me and planning to try out 5 new golf balls; Pro V1, Pro V1x, NXT Tour, Bridgestone e6 and Bridgestone e7. Probably filter that list down a bit once I get on a launch monitor and get some concrete stats on my swing, we'll see. Also debating getting a used blade putter off EBay, just to see how that compares to my current mallet putter.

Played the HX Diablo Tour and Gamer Tour this year and liked them, then bought some cheap Noodles late in the season and while they "feel" slightly harder around the green I didn't hit them any better or worse. Figure why not try the expensive balls as well and see if there's any difference?

I'm in my second year of playing and receiving instruction. First year was a used set of clubs and hack 9 here and there. This year I will continue with instruction but I will benefit a great deal with woods and irons that fit me. Due to the cost of the equipment I am considering iron head covers to and from the course. If someone wants to call me a poser because my equipment doesn't match my ability then I ask am I a poser? or do I want to give myself the best chance to get better?

I was at an "estate sale" a month or so ago, and bought a bunch of golf stuff. One of the items was a zero bounce 60* wedge. I am thinking about messing around with it to see what, if any, good might come out of it. I don't have an off season, so I figure what the heck, and will try something different to keep my golf brain juices working. There was also  74* wedge in the mix which absolutely scares me. That critter has trouble written all over it. :surrender:

There's no off season for me here in CA.   But after 5 years of playing golf, I've got my clubs fitted this month.   I am waiting for them do arrive.   Driver is already here and is looking promising.  It's more accurate, and goes longer (5 - 10 yards) but need to collect more data before declaring it a success.

    • For someone with a very consistent swing speed and ball strike, upgrades may improve performance. For everyday golfers, probably not. I'm a rather odd player. I usually get best performance from basic pro or tour heads, but with lighter stock shaft from the model's standard driver set up. (Yes, current EXS is an exception.) When I get a full driver fitting, I usually try a couple of modest upgrade  (not super magic) shafts. Most of the time upgrade gives a couple of extra yards, or 10 yards less. Remember this about stock shafts: They are matched to a particular driver model to fit the type of player likely to adopt that model. Also, most OEMs offer a variety of stock shafts in their drivers. Test for which one works best. And, the final decider...
    • Uh, seeing you're having trouble with hit-and-miss performance from inherited clubs... Get Fitted! IF the 910H pair don't work, swap them out. Also, only two degrees separation in loft is not much. You might consider a 4W (much more reliable than a 3W) plus hybrid. This would give more distance separation than two Hs. For hybrid, get one you can hit... Maybe a more benevolent 4H. Quite often I try to brand match my bridge clubs (FWs and Hs), and my irons and wedges... but not always. Whatever works!
    • Like others have said, get fitted. Since 2011, I have played some combination of 4W + 7W. I had a Cobra 3H and 4H a couple of years back, and would swap out the 7W for a 3H in cold months (keep out of cold wind, and rough thinner for wayward drives.) The 7W matched up with yardage often with 3H; the current 4H goes almost as long as 7W, but has a lower trajectory. 4H also bumped out 4i in last bag redo; I learned to hit stinger with 4H so that's my driving iron on tight holes with shallow landing area. Again, a side-by-side test will tell you which way to go. If 5W or 3H is meh, keep the 7W. Also, are you looking to replace the 7W with a 5W or 3H, or add a second bridge club (5W or 3H) to your bag?
    • Makes sense and aligns with other literature. Static stretching, especially for longer durations, can impede performance in strength and power activities. I would not want to do like hamstring, quad, and calf stretches then go immediately sprint. To me that sounds like a terrible Idea. I would rather start off walking, then jogging, then running, then ramp up to sprinting.  To me, static stretching isn't even a warmup activity. I like the term warmup; you want to get some exertion going before the activity.      a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; }
    • Going to Florida for the usual February golf trip, and with our current weather, that date won't get here soon enough. Heading to Augusta GA for the Tuesday Master's practice round, will definitely get some golf in while I'm in the area for a few days. Hope to be able to catch up with @coachjimsc if he's around. Then it's back to Scotland first of July.  Playing 7 new courses, can't wait for that.  Then somewhere after that is the Rhode Island CC Member-Guest and then my normal October golf trip to Myrtle Beach.
