I'm not going to speculate other than to say that there's some of this that doesn't pass the smell test. Saying that the hospital told him don't bother drug testing because it's "probably" out of his system is fishy.

That's actually quite plausible. GHB testing has to be done within like 12 hours of ingestion.

Yeah I don't understand the skepticism and victim blaming.

He didn't seem concerned about the skepticism when asked about it on camera.

You also don't know Robert Allenby.

Of course he didn't, because he's all about painting himself as a great guy whose only concern was not being able to ring his daughter on her birthday.

Meanwhile a string of abused and mistreated caddies, along with alienated fellow players and ex wives are quietly laughing their heads off.

The things he seems to be making up are being put down to him being "confused".   Loving the euphemism.

Imagine what the FBI is saying when the microphones are off. :-)

No-one is questioning the fact that he was bashed and robbed. It's the circumstances leading up to it that are "confusing".

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Well, I would think you know more about him than any of us. . . I still feel bad for him, and maybe he'll avoid such circumstances in the future? One can only hope. . .

Unless it is about Tiger Woods, in which case connecting the dots with speculation about anything is some folks' (not you) favorite parlor game.

Those dots were all well connected. Move on because you are :offtopic: .

Of course. I totally agree.  It is shocking.

But the skepticism is along the lines of the old "boy who cried wolf" thing.  Your past determines how people react to the present.

You wouldn't want to be a person who people immediately don't trust or believe.

I am not the only one whop doubted the authenticity of the WHOLE story the moment it appeared.

I get your point, but I still had a chuckle.  Reminds me of those small-talk conversations that go like this:

"I'm from Canada"

"Oh yeah?  My brother-in-law is from Canada.  His name is Joe Smith ... do you know him?"

I'm sure there are some on the Tour who don't feel sorry for him. Isn't he the guy who trashed Anthony Kim at the President's Cup for off-course behavior, and then trashed his partners when he went 0-4?

That would figure midway in his top 25.

Even if he is a total douche it doesn't mean he's being evasive about what happened. He didn't have to go public with the info. If he was taking a walk on the wild side or whatever he could have easily just claimed to have fallen down and called his bank to cancel the credit cards. Besides how much is there to say about being robbed, doesn't have to be a big juicy tale. When it happened to me the entire encounter was a couple minutes. Even the cops seemed disinterested. It's not like they escorted me to the station and had me look through photos and put out an APB Law and Order style. It was all bummer for you man, call your bank, what's your phone number etc. I never heard another thing about it.

Yet he is saying the FBI is involved when they aren't......

Ok, that might be the case, but how hard is it to just check and make sure?

Someone explained how he may have been confused about that earlier. The FBI isn't going to investigate random muggings unless it somehow ties to an active investigation.

Right.  His history aside, it seems a lot more plausible that he would make a mistake about something like that rather than publicly lie about something that could be so easily refuted.

The FBI thing seems pretty innocuous to me.

Yeah I didn't read that and immediately think LIAR! The guy plays pro golf and he's from another country I don't him to be Supreme Court Justice sharp. If he wasn't who he is his complaint doesn't make it off the desk of the officer that took it. Not like this is the crime of the century.

Somehow, I think that Shorty has a little more knowledge of prominent Australian golfers than me having a brother in law living in Canada and another random Canadian knowing him. ;-)

Why? Do you think you know more about American golfers than Shorty does just because you live here. In the information age I don't think our geographic location is of any advantage or disadvantage. We probably know more about pro golfers than most simply because we are more serious about golf than the average guy on the street. But even with all the exposure from 24 hour Golf Channel news and coverage and endless Tweets from tour players I don't feel like I know any of them personally or anything. You see lots of so and so is a douche because he acts out type stuff but it's still limited info.

A lot of people think Sabbatini is a tool. But if he turned up murdered my reaction wouldn't be he had it coming and probably caused his own demise.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
