Among my nuggets of wisdom dispensed to Woods? Regarding the shank in the video below. Yeah, don't hit those. :-) https://vine.co/v/OFrwA3pT9Q6 Okay, so I'll be the guy to tell Woods this. Tie your left shoe in a double knot, turn your hat backwards and put a tee in your ear. Bought to you by Mexican Mac O'Grady:

Tiger's woes are just teething, I am not sure we'll see him back to winning majors though down to the fact he will have much more competitors per major to worry about.

Funny how all this comes down to......not finding the bottom of a good dam swing arc

Get a mental coach. The short game shots he screwed up he can hit with no problem at the driving range with his eyes closed, standing on one leg and with left hand clubs. While eating a sandwich. Naked.

My advice would be to get a really good personal trainer? Or start taking rehab seriously like the NFL guys that come back from devastating injuries.

Agreed, I posted my thoughts in the Farmer's thread. But I'll say it again here. Tiger should have stayed in rehab for at least 6 months, not the barley 3, that he did. Plus I had a feeling that his back was the problem, and not the yips. Hammer knows about bad backs...not fun.

Time for TW to give up his PGA career and move on.....the last six or so tournaments have really degraded his legacy......not sure what his alimony check is, or what his NIKE endorsement contract says, but if possible, move on......golf course design? golf commentary (ala Nick Faldo, Johnny Miller)....don't know if TW has a TV personality - probably not, but he sure as heck can talk from experience.......If he mellowed out a little, he might be able to put that Stanford education to use as a commentator.....

I'm sure he's going on doctor's orders and he's probably getting advice from the best physios in the world (at least I would hope with his fame/money) so I'm sure doctors told him it was good to come back. Sometimes resting it too long can hurt it as well. Doctors will tell you that your back needs exercise. Sitting around only hurts it.

I just think it's simply the strain of his swing. Even with the swing change, he still puts a lot of torque on it. He's going to have to overhaul and find a swing that doesn't put much pressure on his back, which is going to be extremely hard to do for him, which is why I think his career is in serious jeopardy right now. He can rest it for a year, but if he comes back with a swing that puts pressure on that thing, same thing's going to happen. He needs to stand more straight and swing like Ernie Els or Fred Couples...smooth and easy. Those are two guys who went through back surgeries and they'll tell you the same thing.

Yes, the last injury plagued 6 months has degraded his legacy. Makes perfect sense if you apply no sense to the thought at all.

At least, it's not like any other golfer/athlete has returned to competition from chronic back injury.

I would like to give Tiger some advice on how to activate his glutes, but like he said in his interview in the parking lot at Farmers...when your glutes get cold its hard to activate your glutes. That was an intensely weird interview with reporters jammed around him 360° asking detailed questions about his butt. Kinda funny but it came across strange because the reporters were not interested in golf.

I was going more a long the lines of Arian Foster for example. Documented back issues right? The guy rehabs and comes back to just dominate in the NFL.. No AF didn't just sit around and give his back a rest, there is a difference between his back healing and him putting in the necessary PT so that he strengthens it and the muscles around it to support it.. There is no way in my opinion that a golf swing is more strenuous on a back than getting pounded by linemen and linebackers in the NFL. So, even if a doctor cleared him it might be because the back healed, but that doesn't mean he did what he was supposed to. Case in point the fact he just WD because of his lack of activation or what ever.

Just got a chance to watch some highlights from yesterday. His grimace timing is off.

I would suggest practicing the grimace in front of the mirror to where it more closely follows his swing. Right now he is looking where the ball goes before he grimaces, which works fine for the fanboys but tends to make the haters call BS.  Coordinating the grimace with the swing is an easy fix to ward off any speculation.

I would also suggest that if he hit the ball straight or relearned how to chip that would miraculously cure the back issue.

Of course, it would be an issue if he grimaced, and then looked where the ball went and it miraculously went straight. That is the conundrum with the grimace timing....why be hurt if you are playing well?. But wait! He could be in perpetual 2008 US Open mode and the media and fanboys would swoon if he just grimaced after every shot. Think of the drama and ratings of TW limping around the course grimacing and shooting 65's! Golf.com could have a blog about his daily trips to the chiropractor, and mix in some live blog trips to the dentist for dental work! The internet would break!

Also, I would advise him to just stick to the spasms excuse, instead of sprinkling in some ancillary reason he sux like glutes. That's not necessary. That just leads to ridicule and doesn't really mean anything to his target audience. Spasms are good enough for the media to remain in his jock and the fanboys to defend him.

I actually found your comments funny, but I would add there were some who claimed he was faking it last year, then he had the surgery.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

It's an extremely elaborate ruse. Real Illuminati-type stuff.

I'm neither a "fanboy" or a "hater" but if I had to be on one side of the scale, I'd lean towards the fanboy side.  And I would never suggest that he was faking it, and in fact scolded a few who did.  That said, I could not help but notice how gingerly he was walking and sitting all the way to his car, but then once in his car, he had to trouble at all spinning around to look behind him to make sure he didn't flatten any reporters. :-P

I've had serious back problems before, and I could never twist like that (nor would I dare try). ;-)

I got it. Tiger should pay Reggie Love to observe his situation and discuss his support mechanisms. I like this guy Reggie. I am watching the Charlie Rose Show.

    • Day 133 - Played 9 again. Driver was great, putting was better, but shots inside 100 were awful.
    • Day 36: 15 balls, same as last few days. Then a little indoor putting.
    • hey guys, sorry about the kind of short notice, but i'm not going to be able to make it to the outing this year....
    • Had to correct the distance - should have read 5,400 not 5,500  yds.
    • Had to report this one - played Minnesott again today with my son.  We played behind the Friday Men's group and had a decently paced round.  My round started off par-par-bogie.  I was feeling good to be +1 through three.  Played the next two par - par and then disaster hits - well I thought it may be the unravelling of +1 through five.  Tee shot on six is a hard pull hook into the ditch separating four and six.  I know the ball is lost and re-tee - hitting three off the tee on this par five.  Long story short - what should have been at worst a bogie became a triple 8.  Now I'm +4 through six holes.  Get a solid par on seven (which I celebrated as a solid recovery hole).  Eight is a birdie and I'm back to three over.  Nine, a par 3 over water, finishes par for a 39 front.   We roll to the back to where I birdie ten (the toughest hole on the back) to be -1 after the first hole on the back, +2 for the round.  Par eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen - that was an in the zone moment.  Have to note that fourteen - the second par 3 on the back - I hit the tee shot just short right of the flag.  Easy pitch with the 56 should put me close for a tap in par.  It does not happen - as I duff the pitch to about 3yds closer.  I reset and this time I nip it nicely only to see it land and slowly roll to the cup and drop in for a chip-in par save ( a first).   We get to sixteen and I am thinking this could be a really good round.  It's also a par 5 and I hit a solid tee shot.  I'm about 220 from the center of the green and figure I can layup with the 3w as there is a nice landing area in front of the green and it would play nicely into the typical distance I hit this club.  I'm sitting about 50 yds from the flag to the right hand side.  I overcook the 56 and see the ball bounce off the back of the turtle green.  I hit an easy 56 again to see the ball roll to the other side of the green.  Long story it became a 3putt double.  Now I am +4 through sixteen.  The last two holes are solid pars - one an up and down, the other a GIR two putt. Finished the back 1 over at 37.  Total score is a 76!  A new personal best.  Best "all around" play through the bag to date.
