We'd welcome Canada as the 51st State.  That way, you wouldn't get screwed by ESPN.

Yeah, I'll pass.

Amateurs  at the Master's: 7 total but none made the cut.

Pro Asians at the Master's who made the cut: 2 Koreans, SNoh and SBae; HMatsuyama from Japan, TJaidee from Thailand, and from India,  ALahiri.  This not counting ethnic origins like KNa, or VJSingh who play under non-Asian flags.

HMatsuyama doing the best at -3 after 2 rounds.

Looks like Corey Conners from Canada, 2nd place finish at US AM Open, takes the Silver Cup as low am.  He sure improved between day 1, 81 shots, and day 2, 69 strokes.

The Master's website says Woods hit his drive at 11 388 yards into the trees. How do they measure driving distance? How can he have hit it that long with not optimum roll?

He could have really caught one, but usually a drive that long on tour is result of 1st bounce off a hard surface like rocks, tree roots, or cart path.

As Jordan kept marching on today, it became more and more apparent that he was in the midst of a pretty historic dominant performance for the first two rounds.

The pesky Charley Hoffman might make things interesting, but I feel like the excitement might be done with already. Anyone else?

If Jordan loses this, it would be a massive disappointment. Would be tough to watch even. None of us like watching a good guy collapse (most of us would agree Jordan is a pretty good guy, I'd hazard to guess).  So what else is left to watch for the week? Someone making a miracle charge and out-dueling Jordan?

Charley could do that, but he has always felt like a second tier player, whereas Jordan is apparently on the rise to stardom. Something seems less than thrilling about Charley Hoffman winning this, but he could certainly add some drama.

Ernie Els could charge, but Jordan would have to come back to the field a bit, I would think.

Maybe someone who finishes late today could make a huge run and get near -10 to make this interesting.

The number of possibilities is narrowing, and I'm not sure any outcome other than Jordan winning will be satisfying.

What was really impressive about Spieth's play is that he didn't look particularly solid off the tee. His course management makes the most of his play and he is a very sharp scrambler.

DJ eagles his THIRD hole of the day! The first person to ever do so at the Masters.

If he can keep this up, he will cover well for his chipping and pitching weakness relative to the field. Spieth will have to stay fairly aggressive on the par 5's to make sure he gets regular birdies or DJ can close the gap quickly - unless he stumbles and hits a bit miss and is rewarded with a big number.

I think that is a big advantage for DJ. hopefully a few guys can get with in 3 shots for Sunday's round to make it interesting.

Gotta just love Tiger openly petitioning the competition committee to make the course hard/fast for the weekend.....get some nerves and double bogies in play......

Lol I didn't see that. Did he ask that in the presser?

I didn't realize that Rory went -5 in 10 holes to get back to -2 for the tournament.

Lets just say if this is the spark that gets him going, watch out. He's one of the few people who has the game to very low at Augusta.

Bold Prediction.

Round 3, Rory shoots -8 64 to get it to -10, then goes -7 65 to post a -17 to tie Spieth to force a play off. :-D

The committee can't really do much more than they have. The weather needs to cooperate. They've had a lot of rain there in the slats week and that's been coupled with humid conditions. They need drier air in order to speed up the greens.

In the post-game interview he gave CBS (I mean ESPN), he said the sub-air system has not been running. I think he said he can hear when it runs and when it doesn't.  According to Tiger, they could suck the moisture off the greens if they wanted to.  I'm not sure if this is the source of the remark that he is "openly petitioning" the committee, but after that interview, I thought he was taunting them a bit by saying something like "they can leave it like it is, and it will be a birdie-fest." Or something to that effect. Anyway, clearly Tiger thought they could make the greens firmer.

I have nothing against Spieth and will be happy if he wins but I hope he backs up or slows down so we can have an interesting Sunday.  My favorite sporting events are close golf majors and the Ryder Cup.  My least favorite sporting events are when a golfer blows out the field.

Got to agree with you Aguirre.

I had my JS voodoo doll and have been pricking it with a tee.   He will shoot 78 tomorrow.   He will still win though. ;-)

Need God and the Competition Committee to help.....and not necessarily in that order according to Tiger

They have a way of warming and cooling of the greens using a system of pipes beneath the ground. There is more that they can do.

Yeah but they need dry conditions. I feel after seeing a 64 yesterday, they would have made them as quick as they could today if possible. The humidity is killing them.

Sergio and Woods paired up tomorrow. Kinda wish they were friends. Would be nice to see them make amends one day. Growing up it was always Tiger vs Sergio.. we all know how that went but as a fan of both I'm being optimistic!

    • Part of the clubmaker's process, in this case, is to have the player come back after a few rounds for any necessary tweaking, FWIW.
    • I totally agree with this but beginners are not good players that can adjust to almost every club setup.  A ping certified fitter, ex pro that plays at my home course, told me that the idea of the fitting in this case is to give the player the clubs that are at least suited for his body type in general. (body, arms, hands, strength, speed, etc) so he can go an play or have lessons with clubs that are not perfect for him but close enough. From there is up to the player to come back for another fitting in the future in case he feels his current clubs are no longer suited for his new swing/mechanics.  So.. I vote basic club fitting then lessons.
    • Okay, so my children and I got into a heated debate at the dinner table last night.  We were discussing making Christmas Cookies and got on the topic of what is the best cookie.  I personally think the Oatmeal Raisin is the best. My kids mocked me. "THAT'S AN OLD MAN COOKIE!"  Seriously? Does anyone besides me love the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie?  And if not, what is the best cookie?

    • Day 3: 12/12/2024 Okay, so I've already put in about a 1/2 hour of mirror work on my priority piece which I've nicknamed PPJ. The first to P's are starting to feel less bizarro but the J is still too late. As of now, I'm still thinking about it too much. So, although I'm anxious to hit balls, I'm sticking with the mirror work for another day or two. Then I'll move to the garage net.  I set up a small station right outside my office so every time I go in or out I can do a slow-mo PPJ in front of a mirror.
