Vijay and Fowler don't want to leave the course.  It's ugly, very ugly.

Birdie for sure for Phil on 2 I'm sure he was pissed about that second shot.

Not a great approach from PMick, but should be an easy birdie

Fowler hit into the woods, his next shot he hit a tree and the ball landed behind him and now he just skied the 18th green and landed his ball in the 10th fairway.  Vijay had a simple approach shot that he landed over the green and into the gallery.

The top 10 right now is super badass. Lefty, Tiger, and Rors all right next to each other. If Jordan wasn't so far ahead, the ratings would be astronomical on Sunday.

No, they only show the back nine regardless.  Coverage picks up on 10th tee.

I know the boys and gals at Augusta are an elite group of homo sapiens, but I have to think even they would love to have this thing close for ratings tomorrow. CBS execs better be on the phone with somebody now

ESPN has really marketed the Masters well. I think that's why ratings this week will be nice. Unfortunately with the US Open leaving ESPN and going to Fox, they won't get that marketing and will likely lose some ratings.  FoxSports1 has not materialized the way I think they thought it would.

That was rough.

In fairness to Fowler, it looks like his club hit a tree root in the ground on the shot that hit the tree.

Leaderboard looks like a "Who's who of golf", except for Hoffman.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
